I doubt it. I have 4Mbit/s / 512 Kb/s line and exerience the same problem all the time.

I do not think this is a problem as the client keeps running and crunching and even uploading, it only does not report completed WUs and update the credit from the seti servers.
Also the computer stopped reporting only three days ago without any apparent change done.

But I will have a look anyway. Thanks.

The same problem. No solution on the horizon.
It seems it is relatively frequent for couple of days on the Problems site.

I have the same problem. One of 7 comuters crunches all the time, downloads WUs and keeps them in the state Ready to report. The funny thing is it downloads new WUs but does not update the project stats.
All of the comoputers are connected to our LAN, all have the same system.
Weird.

Now I have 17 completed WUs, ready to report and I do not want to lose them. Is there a way to keep them over reseting SETI?

I'm running SETI on 7 computers. Now all of them with the same system.
And one of them is unable to connect to BOINC for over three of days. I have set the wU buffer to five days, so the machine has still enough to crunch, but I am annoyed as all the other computers do connect without any problems. Plenty of space, connection works with all ohter problem, it worked smooth for about a month.

Updating doesn't help.
Restarting the computer doesn't help.
And I don't want to lose computed WUs.

Any suggestions?

7) Questions and Answers : Windows : How do we transfer credit from the "old" Seti? (Message 39808)
Posted 24 Oct 2004 by Profile Marek
Post:
As far as I understand, the old credit will not be transferred. Although there should exist a way how to translate the old credit to cobblestones. But with five years of technical development on the side of computers and at least two massively different types of WUs and computation methods it cannot be fair. On the other hand, no scoring is fully fair.

But as I said: Enjoy your Classic SETI position, be secretly proud of your achievement and run again! Literally!

Sure, several times. I would not dare to comment if I did not.

Sorry, I would expect a status page is a sort of engine being able to say automatically, whether a server is on or off.

I have been volunteering with my computers since 1999 and I volunteer on various projects myself.

Among the main and most demanding I can mention three children... :-)

SETI@home status page
[As of 20 Oct 2004 19:40:04 UTC]

Now it is 22:55 UTC (GMT) and the status page is over three hours outdated.

As far as I understand, the PURPOSE of a STATUS page is to GIVE CURRENT STATUS of the servers. Which means the SETI@home status page does not meet its purpose except for very long outages.

I think it is a minor task for seti@home team to make status page a status page and keep it automatically refreshed slightly more often.

They announced some hardware replacement on the main SETI page.
On the other hand, the technical status says all the servers are working.
Weird.

No schedulers responded although the technical status says they are all running.

So either the status page is right and there is a bug somewhere else or the status page lies and the schedulers sre down or being replaced.

But the purpose of the status page is TO BE a STATUS page, so it should be always correct!

I admire and appreciate the work done by the guys in Berkeley, on the other hand I feel getting gather tired from this project. The original S@h was somehow much better handled although the level of complexity was lower...

Hi, I have the same problem and there is nothing wrong with the preferences I suppose. I am running BoincSeti on five computers. Notwithstanding the upload problems the 4.09 bersion worked well, meaning it downloaded and crunched well on all of them. But after the update to 4.12 d late on 4.13 one of the machines is to willing to download any WU exactly in the same way described here.

By the way the message we get from the application is ridiculous. Instead of "insufficient space" or "low memory" or wnatever (given you were correct) it says "No work from project"

No idea what you mean. Does it perform more complex calculations so that the results are more valuable? In this case, why did not the developers do the same with other platforms clients? Or if the science behind 4.02 is different and even worth, is not the computation time and results wasted comapred to "new" 4.05?

Or if there is a bug in 4.05... does it mean the WUs are processed differently?

If there is a bug. it is 100% sure, all the results from the same WU are the same with 4.02 and 4.05? If they are, what is the difference caused by?

I think all these questions are legitimate and your "Nothing youy can do about it." is totally unacceptable for me, sorry.

And of course as the upload problems were solved, this is going to be teh most important issue now. But unfortunately, the team does not communicate...

I have the same problem running SETI on 5 computers, one of them after regular upgrade to 4.13 with the client off reports no application is running, the SETI@home is there and it offers "update" followed by "(try again)" or something similar (I am not siiting there and we have 3 a.m. now, so I am not going to check) :-)

Reinstalling did not help...

I do not object against full time monitor, but certain things should come to my e-mail or pop up or at least be bold in the monitor... New release of the client should be immediately announced for example by e-mail...

I did not say it is not there!
I said at the time, when large number of users were complaining about uploads a very imporant piece of information (new release solving the problems was issued) was missing in the news section.
Another funny thing which I do not understand is that BOINC new versions are on SETI (application) pages and not on BOINC ones. Why on Earth?

Participate in SETI@Home is mainly for new crunchers. I already do participate, so I would expect some straightforward link to upgrade software I am running. 4.09 was announced in the news. Why not 4.12?

Again, I do not say the information is not there, but the access is irrational, normally expected links, such as download or upgrade are missing on teh main page and news are late and insufficient. And a new client version is rather important in my opinion.
20) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Bilingual Profiles (Message 36251)
Posted 13 Oct 2004 by Profile Marek
Post:
The title says everything. I want to share my profile both with English and Czech crunchers. There is no way how to separate even paragraphs in the profile so the resulting bilingual text looks pretty awful.

I know it is not an issue for English speaking users, but for other nationals it could be very convenient.

If you at least allow paragraph separators, it will be possilbe to keep various parts of the text or language versions separated. But also the language attribute should allow at least English and user's Local languages. (In case of Switzerland it could be quite funny though.)

Any way you take it, this is really only a wish.
