thanks for your answer jim,
ok. i know that there are not very much units there to send. but normally i send the request to upload(get deleted old files) and also requesting new units. then, if there is no unit the old units will be deleted and getting no work. that says me my other machines. i also can disallow requesting new units and the problem still is there.
no, i havnt doing other projects. but i am a registered user for climate but not useing it. i want to spend all process time seti. so i dont know if they can connect.
one other thing is that sometimes....very less times i get deleted files and getting new units. and thats the problem. one other machines everytimes get connected and deleted units and, if there are new one getting new ones. the other machines dont reach that point of getting connected, only very rare!

ps: ive posted this probelm her in this board beacause in other boards (trouble board) the most and known answer is, that the servers are down, but that cant
be the whole problem, i think.

thanks again for reading.

How is the non-connecting computer connected to the net?

Have you rebooted the non-connecting computer recently?

thx for your reply.
and yes, i have restartet the pc more than once :-)
all my pcs connnection to the internet on the same line. its just a dial-up line. but there is no other way here. i use a router-software and normally its works fine. so i dont think that this is the problem. and this might noch be the problem because the other machine which still works finde and deletes and gets units uses the same method to the internet.
yesterday connected two of the 4 problem machines, getting some work and doing them. but not getting more and from then, they all dont connect again. the other one is still fine. that all makes no fun and sense. i didnt change anything!

thx

hi all out there.
i have now again this problem. u worked on my units, uploaded them but i cant contact the server that they get deleted on my pc and get new units.
this is no berkeley-server problem/outage problem! i have some more machines useing the same internet-connection. one pc does all fine, other 3 dont get deleted this results and also not getting new work.
i hate the "new" boinc system. the old one had outtages too, but there were not such problem with upload and download.
here some parts of the log of the working machine:

hi John and other reader,
i am trying now your method of deleting and editing files. your solution might be right. i've found some lines in my clientstat.xml, follwing:

...

SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow
NOTE: The number of results detected exceeds the storage space allocated.

...

i hope doing your advices will solve my problem - i will report if this works.

Post:
hi mikey and all others.
i think that is not a berkeley problem! the other machines working fine. even right now but this trouble machine does not get connection to berkeley. but i can ping setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu
i see at their server-page, that there is no more work. ok. but i just want to get connected to the server and by that getting deleted the well done workunits in my list from this machine. the other machines can connect and upoad (each unit) and getting deleted (all units which are finished). so it must be an other problem :-/

so what can i do to get these 51 results to berkeley till the 28.7.????

hi,
thanks for your reply to help. the problem was, that the boinc-gui interface uses the 75% of the pocessors resources, not the seti-client...exe and there are no other precesses that use the rest of the processors free resources.
it also didnt get normal running it longer times. i've just leaved this hanging boinc for a night running and it changed nothing.
free disk space is also granted.

ok and now some solutions: i used 4.19 and reinstalled it, but having the same problems and even this on a new installed os. i've downloaded a new version of boinc, version 4.43. and there are no more failures. i thought, that boinc looks itsselve for new updates but it didnt for a long time.

thanks for all users trying helping me

i am useing boinc for a long time. i didnt change anything. but two days before boinc didnt do what it should. the problem is:
as i started boinc with seti the process "boinc_gui.exe" takes 75% of the processor power. I know that beacause i can see that in the taskmanager. the other crazy thing is that this process uses more and more main memory of my crunching machine; from the normal use till the end up to 1GB ram. Also if i click on the boinc programm it "crashes", means that it freezes, so that i cant change by clicking to other tabs; but it is working like i described before! i can only finish/close the boinc programm by useing the taskmanager to kill the boinc process.
i have also found out that boinc creates in the root-directory a file named "stdout.txt". this file gets also bigger an bigger; up to 160MB of diskspace (last time i looked at this). in this file stands:

and uncounted morge lines like the last one!

Ok, you can say that i should reinstall it. but i did reistall boinc and it does the same failure. I also reinstalled windows xp home again. but the failure was there again when it downloaded the project from the web.

I use boinc on other machines, but there it works fine. but i dont want to try out what happend if i reinstall it there too.
System configs:
- windows xp home (with all service patches an security patches)
- 1,5gHz centrino mobile processor
- 512MB ram

i hope someone can help me. if someone has more question i can look at other files what there stands in.
thanks.
