What does "No work from project" means?
(Message 233481)
Posted 19 Jan 2006 by mimi Post: Hi, I guess one can say "No work" means "No work, stupid" but I am still wondering about this messages that i tend to get often lately (here's the log, time stamp removed) "BOINC Manager" wrote:
Because there are other ERROR messages like "couldn't connect to hostmname", I am wondering what does quoted message means? Is it some sort of connection problem, or is it possible that there is simply no work available ATM (meaning we're crunching data faster than SETI is recording it :) ) In connection with that, i would like to see someting in one of the future versions of BOINC/SETI: -bigger queue for data I know i can increase the connection time in my profile but that will result in BOINC connecting less often. What i would like is to have 1 or 2 days of WU in queue and upon finishing 1 it reports and fetches another one. The reason is that after 2 days of crunching , if there are connection/server problems, my comp is just waiting idle. With this solution we would always have 1-2 days of "buffer time" for SETI team to correct any problem that occured and not losing computing time in between. |
