I woke up to heavy snow falling. The roads are closed to trucks and only 4x4 with snow tires or cars with chains are being allowed. I love the snow. Looks like 4 inches on my deck.

Cold as H€££ outside. Thor and Loki didn’t like me. Around 8:30am I went to get in my car. Almost didn’t get in. The doors where ice locked frozen. No ice on the outside of the door. Just inside around the weather seals. I had to carefully pry the front doors open breaking the ice lock seal. The passenger front door had to be opened from the inside, then finished outside. Lots of blue sky and sunshine today. Just bitter cold.

The carrot.. I can tell you about the carrot... In the warm winter here, it thaws during the day, the carrot falls out of the snowman's face and lies on the ground. And that's exactly what the rabbit was waiting for, who hangs around here and sleeps under the climbing frame or in the bushes on the playground in front of our house at night. And then another carrot is gone. I'm not kidding. Happens here.

Well I'm all square with the world for another fortnight and all I have to do today is pick up another 2mths worth of pills from the chemist before enjoying a few Good Friday beers.

We got off to a 15C start here and as the sun shines down (for a change) it's now 20C (feels like 19C) on our way towards 26C.

Now I've just got to workout what I'll do for the next 2hrs.

Cheers.

All is quiet and dark and chilly. Very Arctic!

No frost (yet) even though it does feel frosty...

Will we yet see the sunshine later today??...

After getting my pills then a beer I noticed that the mail truck was 2.5hrs late getting in so a few more beers were had just so that I could check the mailbox on my way home while the temp here has now reached a steamy 26C (feels like 28C), but those clouds are gathering up again.

Cheers.

More snow is on the way. The forecast warns of snow for the next 4-5 hours.

It's now down to a muggy 19C (feels like 20C) while 16C is expected in the morning.

Anyhow I'm going to see if a can get another extended night's sleep in again, but I could be woken up in the early hours as that stormy weather that should've started this arvo is still out on the western plains.

Cheers.

We got eight centimeters (3 inches) of snow since yesterday. Now, sun is shining... a winter wonderland. The wind is turning to the East and brings continental (dry and cold) air from Russia. So, we can enjoy the snow for at least a week. Temps will go down as low as -12°C (10 F) early next week. The most pleasant winter weather you can expect here.

Still no sunshine...

At least today the overcast is high and bright. Almost otherworldly!

And I've caught an operative skimping on the procedures... Hopefully the stern talking to will improve results to something better than marginal!

To be checked up on before further damage is done...

(Damage that I don't want to be fixing...)

We seem to be in a transitional zone. We are getting both rain and snow. Most of the city is covered by unflavored slush but I on the hill have slushy snow. It's about 6-8 inches of the stuff. My Volt has 3.5 inch ground clearance. So it's more of a plow in this stuff. Taking out the truck is tempting but better not to drive at all. There are a couple of 4x trucks on the sidewalk below my home exhibiting the result of speed on icy curves.

In the twilight, in the murky gloaming, all sense of direction is lost!

Where is what horizon?...

All around is a cool quiet surreal.

That is, all apart from this island of light and noise and wasteful heat.

Meanwhile... Some calibration tests this afternoon turned up some interestingly lopsided results...

"Interesting" in this instance is using the academic/engineering meaning of the term 'interesting'...

Sunshine at last. The roads around me appear mostly safe. I still see patches of ice but they are melting.

On this Saturday the sun again rose behind a gloomily heavy overcast sky as we got off to a damp 18C (felt like 19C) with 25C being expected along with more wet weather during the day.

Anyhow it's time for a 2nd coffee.

Cheers.
