I think that "trust" has been totally lost Brett and it won't get any better until some crooks in robes resign. Now that would be the solution to the "trust" problem that you helped to create.

Justice Kavanaugh touts transparency, consistency to build trust in high court.

1 of their peers speaks out.

Supreme Court Justices Slammed by Judge: 'Incredibly Dishonest'.

Hawaii Supreme Court Justice Todd Eddins slammed the U.S. Supreme Court as being "incredibly dishonest".

The Supreme Court has faced growing concerns from some legal experts over its decisions on issues like abortion rights, with critics accusing the court's conservative justices of ignoring precedent in their decisions. Meanwhile, the court has faced ethics scandals, prompting it to adopt an ethics code last November.

Polls have found that Americans have become less supportive of the Supreme Court. Gallup found in September 2023 that only 41 percent of Americans approve of the way the Supreme Court is handling its job, while 58 percent said they disapprove. Five years earlier in September 2018, 51 percent said they approved of the court, while 40 percent said they disapproved.

Eddins, appointed to Hawaii's highest court by former Democratic Governor David Ige in 2020, has been critical of some of the court's rulings in his legal opinions. He has been critical of the court's conservative justices' "originalist" interpretation of the law, particularly in his ruling State v. Wilson, in which he broke with the court on his interpretation of the Second Amendment.

The National Constitution Center defines originalism as the belief that "the constitutional text ought to be given the original public meaning that it would have had at the time that it became law."

In a new interview with Slate published on Tuesday, Eddins shared his frustration on SCOTUS......
And he's spot on.

Corrupt Sammy is no man.

Supreme Court Justice Blames Wife as New Scandal Casts Shadow on Trump Case.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito claimed that his wife, Martha-Ann, had sole responsibility in displaying an upside-down American flag outside the couple's home in the aftermath of the 2020 election.

The conservative justice has come under fire after The New York Times reported Thursday that the symbol—which was used at the time by some supporters of former President Donald Trump to contest the election results—was seen flying on Alito's lawn in Alexandria, Virginia, on January 17, 2021, according to photographs.

Trump and his allies have repeatedly claimed—despite a dearth of evidence—that his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden was due to widespread election fraud. The photograph of the inverted flag at Alito's home was captured just 11 days after a mass of Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6 while Congress was certifying Biden's win.

Alito said in a statement emailed to the Times that he "had no involvement whatsoever in the flying of the flag" and that it was "briefly placed by Mrs. Alito in response to a neighbor's use of objectionable and personally insulting language on yard signs." The controversial report comes a few weeks after the Supreme Court heard arguments on whether Trump is protected by presidential immunity in his federal election subversion case. The high court is expected to issue a ruling in the coming weeks.........
But he certainly is a slime.

Liar, liar, Sammy your pants are on fire.

Can Samuel Alito Survive Flag Controversy?

......Baden told CNN that her argument with Martha-Ann Alito occurred on February 15, 2021, a month after Biden's inauguration and long after Alito's house had flown an upside-down American flag—a nautical distress sign that became a symbol of the Stop The Steal movement. The movement, endorsed by Trump, falsely claimed that President Joe Biden had rigged the presidential election.

Republican President George W. Bush nominated Alito to the Supreme Court and he is one of the court's most conservative judges.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, also nominated by former President George W. Bush, has since faced pressure to remove Alito from Trump's presidential immunity case, which is currently being decided by the court......

Well they met their target easily and in in quick time so they upped the anti.

Christian Petition for Samuel Alito Resignation Passes Goal.

A Christian petition calling for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to resign over recent controversies has surpassed its goal of 15,000 signatures.

As of Tuesday morning, some 16,683 people have signed Faithful America's petition. The organization, which describes itself as a "community of Christians putting faith into action for love and social justice," has moved its target to 20,000 signatures.

The original appeal addresses Alito directly, referring to leaked comments from a conversation about the political divide in the U.S. in which the justice said that some things "can't be compromised" and "one side or the other is going to win."

While being secretly recorded by liberal documentary maker Lauren Windsor, who published the tapes with Rolling Stone, he agreed with her saying that the country needs to "return to a place of godliness."

The petition mentions the comments when it says:......

Thomas Just Hit With 'One-Two Punch'.

Conservative U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has just been hit with a "one-two punch" as Democratic lawmakers attempt to address alleged unethical behavior, legal analyst Glenn Kirschner said on Friday.

Thomas was hit with articles of impeachment by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, on Wednesday after Democratic Senators Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and Ron Wyden of Oregon asked the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch an investigation into alleged violations of Thomas......

Well that's surprising.

Biden's Supreme Court Reform Plan Backed by Majority of Republicans.

...The reform plan would create a constitutional amendment ensuring former presidents are not immune from crimes committed while in office, establish a single 18-year term limit for justices who currently are allowed to serve on the Court until retirement or death and establish a binding, enforceable code of conduct that would require justices to disclose gifts, not publicly participate in political activity, and recuse themselves from cases in which they or their spouses have a conflict of interest.

In a USA Today/Ipsos poll conducted from August 2 to 4, 70 percent of Republicans said they support establishing a binding code of conduct for the Court, 54 percent said they support enacting a constitutional amendment ensuring no person is above the law, including the president, and 51 percent support imposing term limits for justices.

An even larger majority of Democrats and independents also said they'd support Biden's reform plan. In total, 89 percent of Democrats and 75 percent of independents said they support a binding code of conduct while 89 percent of Democrats and 72 percent of independents said they support Biden's "No One Is Above the Law Amendment." Meanwhile, 83 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of independents said they support term limits for justices.

A total of 282 Republicans, 324 Democrats and 310 independents were surveyed. The margins of error for the Republican, Democratic and independent samples were plus or minus 6, 5.6, and 5.9 percentage points, respectively.......

Virginia is at it again trying to save her husband Clarence.

Supreme Court Justices Called Out Over Clarence Thomas.

The chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Democrat Dick Durbin of Illinois, has called for an enforceable code of conduct for U.S. Supreme Court justices following the latest controversy involving Justice Clarence Thomas' wife.

Durbin's Senate floor speech on Tuesday came after the investigative news website ProPublica claimed that Ginni Thomas had effusively praised a conservative group that was trying to prevent reform of the court.

"For more than a year, story after story has broken about ethical misconduct by sitting Supreme Court justices," Durbin said. "We're talking about the highest Court in the land—the nine men and women who are sitting on the Supreme Court—who are not governed by the same rules of conduct and ethical standard as every other federal judge in America.

"Justice Clarence Thomas has been at the center of many of those stories. For decades, he has accepted lavish gifts and luxury trips from a gaggle of fawning billionaires. The total dollar value of those gifts is estimated to be more than $4 million."

The Supreme Court, facing mounting pressure over alleged ethics violations primarily aimed at Thomas and fellow conservative Justice Samuel Alito, issued its first formal code of conduct in November 2023. However, Durbin and others criticized the code for its lack of enforcement procedures.

Durbin spoke about the ProPublica article, which claimed that Ginni Thomas praised the conservative First Liberty Institute's efforts to fight Supreme Court reform........
All these far right nutters who think that they're above the law really need a wake up call. It's no wonder that faith in the system is failing.

More gets revealed about slimy Sammy.

Alito's Role in Jan 6 Ruling Questioned after John Roberts Memo Leak.

Questions have been raised regarding U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's involvement in a ruling related to January 6 defendants in the wake of details around Chief Justice John Roberts' alleged strong-arming of cases linked to former President Donald Trump.

The New York Times reported on Sunday, based on apparent leaked memos from Roberts and other justices and interviews with unnamed court insiders, that Roberts had asked Alito in April to write the majority opinion on Fischer v. United States, before Roberts shifted course and made the extremely rare move of deciding to write it himself.

In June, the nation's highest court voted 6-3 in the Fischer case that a federal charge of obstructing an official proceeding must include proof that a defendant tried to tamper with or destroy documents. The decision meant that hundreds of Trump supporters who were charged with obstructing an official proceeding in relation to the 2021 Capitol riot are having their cases reexamined.

While the reason for the majority opinion switch is unclear, The Times said it is "suggestive" to note that it occurred shortly after the paper reported in May that Alito had an upside-down flag associated with the 2020 election "Stop the Steal" movement flying outside his Virginia home just days after the January 6 attack.......
It's no wonder that faith in SCOTUS is still backsliding.
