Well our ex right wing government tried to coverup after him the 1st time he was accused, but this time Bruce (who can't keep it in his pants) doesn't have that protection from higher up for the same sort of crime again as he fronts the court today.

Lehrmann set to face Toowoomba court for rape committal hearing.

Former parliamentary staffer Bruce Lehrmann is expected to front Toowoomba Magistrates Court for a committal hearing after he was charged with raping a woman twice in 2021.

Police allege the 29-year-old raped a woman on two occasions while he was living in his hometown in October 2021.

He has not yet entered pleas, but he has indicated he will defend the charges.

Mr Lehrmann has previously been excused from attending court, but he is required to be present on Monday for a committal hearing......
A Toowoomba woman who accuses Bruce Lehrmann of raping her in 2021 is expected to give evidence at a committal hearing set to take place in a few hours.

Inside the Toowoomba court house on Monday, those assembled will hear for the first time from the woman who alleges Bruce Lehrmann raped her after they met at a local strip club.

Her name is suppressed. Mr Lehrmann has not formally entered a plea but his lawyers have indicated he will plead not guilty.

The committal hearing on Monday will determine whether or not the matter should proceed to trial.

If it does, the Toowoomba woman will give evidence twice – first in the committal hearing where she is expected to be cross examined on Monday – and then in the trial, if the judge orders one.

What is known of the police case is that she told them she met former Liberal staffer Bruce Lehrmann at the adult entertainment venue in October, 2021.

She reported the allegation a few weeks later after recognising him in media reports regarding Brittany Higgins’ rape allegation.
If there's a jury they're going to have to find hermits for it as there won't be many here that don't know about his sleazebag form by now.

An exception for orthodox religious Jews in Israel that has existed for decades no longer exists: exemption from compulsory military service.

Ultra-Orthodox students must be drafted, Israel court rules
Israel’s Supreme Court has ruled in a landmark case that ultra-Orthodox Jewish seminary students must be drafted to the military.

This ruling by Israel’s top court means that potentially tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox men could now face the draft.

The court also ruled that there should be a freeze in public funding for Jewish seminaries whose students evade conscription.
Israel crisis deepens over ultra-Orthodox draft
Ultra-Orthodox exemptions are opposed by a majority of Israelis.

The Haredi community comprises about 12% of the population but those in full-time Torah study are exempt from mandatory military service.

A former adviser to Shas leader Ariyeh Deri, Barak Seri, told Israel public radio that "from the moment that the court ruled, the Haredi parties have been in utter shock".

"They were stunned by the ruling that funding will stop this Monday. The accusations are flying in all directions, at the Likud [...], at [...] Netanyahu, at the fully right-wing government, at their representatives... This is the worst situation the Haredim have ever been in."

This moron was allowed to take the easy way out. :-(

A notorious bank robber who terrorised a state over a 10-year crime spree has taken his own life through voluntary assisted dying.

Considering those who still suffer from his actions he should've suffered until the real end IMHO.

Both are too far white and conservative these days.

Australian television is in the grips of chaos as top-rating Seven wages a “bloodbath” at its most senior levels, while its rival lurches from scandal to scandal.

A “massacre” within the senior executive ranks of Channel 7 has shocked industry watchers, who say it’s a sign of just how serious the crisis is at the network – and in television broadly.

Seven West Media chairman Kerry Stokes, the billionaire media magnate who owns a controlling share of the network, oversaw a brutal clearing out of his nine-person management team on Tuesday.

Industry veteran Kurt Burnette, who was the chief revenue officer, Melissa Hopkins, chief marketing and audience officer, and Lewis Martin, head of network sport and Melbourne managing director, were all sent packing.

Prominent industry commentator Tim Burrowes, publisher of the Unmade newsletter, described it as “one of the most dramatic days the media market has seen”.

“Factor in the departure of CEO James Warburton, legal chief Bruce McWilliam and news chief Craig McPherson in April, and the leadership of Australia’s most watched TV network has changed almost entirely in just two months,” Burrowes pointed out.

“Among Australia’s big media companies, that’s unprecedented.”.......
Meanwhile the local ABC and SBS continue improve because of their diversity and locally produced content.

Julian is finally back home.

Julian Assange spoke to Anthony Albanese after arriving in Australia for the first time in 15 years, here’s what he said.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange told Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, “you saved my life”, when the two spoke for the first time.

Mr Assange’s arrival in Australia brought to an abrupt end a bitter and protracted legal saga lasting more than a decade that centred on the release of hundreds of thousands of classified and unfiltered US state department documents.

Touching down at Canberra Airport on Wednesday evening at 7.37pm local time, Mr Assange, who travelled to his home country via a crowd-funded private jet marked VJT199, was greeted by a throng of waiting media and a small group of supporters.

The 52-year-old had been pursued by US authorities for 14 years, but brokered a plea deal which saw him convicted in return for his freedom.

After stepping off the plane at Canberra Airport, Mr Assange headed straight toward his wife, 40-year-old lawyer Stella Assange who is the mother of his two sons, Gabriel and Max.......

Since some years Trump insists to have German ancestry. At a G7 meeting in France he expressed to our chancelor "I have German in my blood" which triggered an audible guffaw from Merkel who had difficulty keeping a neutral expression on her face. Until a decade ago he lied he has Swedish ancestry. His grandfather Friedrich (later Frederick) Trump and his grandmother Elisabeth are from Kallstadt* (RP... Rhineland-Palatinate). Yes, his mother is Scottish. But the Scots don't seem to like him anymore. Because of his grandfather, he is eligible to immediate German citizenship.

So PLEASE, please, please send Trump to Germany. Here he can spend his money for more sensible things than election campaigns. In our political system there is not the slightest danger he could gain (or buy) any destructive position. We would even buy him a nice little house in Kallstadt. One that used to belong to a Trump. And... our constitution states: "Germans" will not be extradited to intrusive courts overseas. A win-win situation for Trump.

Well that's 1 less to worry about for quite some time.

Iran's Newest Navy Warship Sinks in 'Accident'.

Iran has lost one of its newest indigenous warships after it capsized in an "accident" in its home port, the country's state media said on Sunday.

The Iranian navy's Moudge-class frigate the Sahand was under repairs at a dock in Bandar Abbas, on Iran's south coast, when the incident took place, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency, quoting a statement from the military.

A water leak caused the warship to "lose its balance," the Iranian military said. Photos carried by state media showed the Sahand rolled over and partially submerged among several ships moored nearby......

Map Shows Best Countries for Work-Life Balance.

A new report revealed the best countries for work-life balance, and the United States landed near the bottom of the list.

Remote's Global Life-Work Balance Index 2024 ranked countries based on several workplace factors, like statutory annual leave, paid maternity leave and average hours worked per employee.

The United States ranked 55th of 60 countries, placing it near bottom. The U.S. score was 31.82 of 100, a massive 49 points behind New Zealand, which took the top spot........

This was in part of a doco that I saw recently.

How the British were forced to reveal secret files on torture of Kenyan resistance fighters.

As the colonial forces were preparing to leave Kenya, in the days leading up to its independence from Britain in 1963, they were given one last order.

Before they left, they took with them crates upon crates of files; the contents of which painted a gruesome picture of the violence and torture they'd inflicted on Kenya's resistance movement, the Mau Mau.

For decades afterwards, the British government denied the files existed and hid them from the world.

But as a result of the determination of Mau Mau survivors, the truth was eventually forced out......
Colonising Empires do have a lot to answer for.

Him and his cronies should've lost the lot considering the mess that they made.

Former Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce's multi-million-dollar payout reduced by about $10 million.

Qantas has reduced former chief executive Alan Joyce's multi-million-dollar payout by almost $10 million.

In a statement shared to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), Qantas confirmed Mr Joyce's executive pay would be slashed after the airline lost its High Court battle over the illegal sacking of ground staff in 2020 and a recent settlement with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission over flight cancellations.

Mr Joyce's remuneration, which was worth about $23 million at the time of his resignation from Qantas last year, will be docked by $9.26 million.

The reduction includes $8.36 million worth of Qantas shares, while his short-term incentive bonus has also been cut by 33 per cent to $900,000.

Mr Joyce left Qantas in September last year after a 15-year career which saw him earn $125 million.

Vanessa Hudson took over as his replacement.

Qantas had previously flagged that Mr Joyce's payout would be tied to the outcome of the High Court ruling and ACCC case.......

They've been a bane all around the world, but they don't see it that way.

Short-term rental giant Airbnb has hit out at claims they’re contributing to the country’s housing crisis as local governments move to block short term rentals.

Rental giant Airbnb has hit out at claims they’re contributing to Australia’s property crisis.

Lending indicator data released in February by the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed the national average new mortgage size as of December 2023 was the highest on record at $624,383.

The national average rent cost was $600 per week over the June quarter; $640 per week for capital cities and $540 per week in the regions, while the rental vacancy rate sat at a measly 1.4 per cent in June, according to PropTrack’s June Rental Report.

“Prior to the pandemic era, the national rental vacancy rate was typically around 2.5 per cent, indicating just how much conditions have tightened,” the report stated.

“With limited new rental supply and persistent strong demand for rentals, the vacancy rate is anticipated to remain low.

“This highlights again how a significant lift in rental stock or reduction in rental demand is required to see more stable rental conditions similar to pre-pandemic.”

Rental companies including Airbnb have been widely criticised over claims of hiking up rent prices and curbing the availability of long-term rentals.......
Quite frankly if they want to stay in business they should be building places to make their profits from and not sucking the life out of local markets.

He definitely knows the transparently published figures on Palestinian (so called) 'refugees' from Denmark. In 1992, the kingdom put a temporary special law into force (so called 'Palestine Act') to grant asylum to a group of 321 Palestinians who illegally reached Denmark from Lebanon. In 2017, of the 270 still living in Denmark, 204 (64%) had already been sentenced for crimes, 67 of them get prison terms. The causes have been carefully investigated, and of course they are not 'genetic', but rather a lack of education. In short: the society of Palestinians in Lebanon, the West Bank or Gaza is toxic; it hinders progress through a remarkable lack of education. This must be changed on the ground in the Middle East, not abroad. You do not help Palestine by relocating its uneducated, fanatical brainwashed population to advanced industrialized countries. The far right morons in Australia's government know this. There is a reason why all Arab states in the Middle East are doing the same: no immigration or work permits for Palestinians. They don't care, but we should.

It is a sensitive topic (... a taboo in my country btw. which canceled political careers). I am not a racist... I am in favor of spending massive ammounts of our money to establish a modern, efficient education system for Palestinians (the day after achieving a reliable peace agreement) and ASAP in neighboring countries (e.g. Jordan, Lebanon) where Palestinians still live as sidelined stateless people without a future because these Arab regimes deny them citizenship to uphold pressure on Israel. We, who need educated immigrants, should build up (design and supervise!!!) an education system for Palestinians instead of giving another Dollar or Euro to UNRWA. Over the many decades of its existence UNRWA has only created so-called "schools" there that preach hatred and terror. Their educational results are completely useless; as extensively examined by Danish sociologists.

No, as education results did not improve in peace times inter-war periods and independent if in peaceful Lebanon or war-ridden Gaza. It is the organization that runs these schools and determines topics of lessons and textbook contents. You can watch disgusting examples on YouTube.

Unfortunately abandoned schools loose its status when a large Hamas group rans their operations or hides inside. It remains the responsibility of the warring powers to weigh up wheter the effect of an attack justifies expected civilian casulties and collateral damage. It's horrific, like every war.
