Well done kids. NSW engineering students earn provisional Guinness World Record as their Sunswift 7 becomes the fastest solar-powered race car. An Australian-made solar-powered race car has narrowly set a provisional Guinness World Record in a 1,000 kilometre race, claiming the title with just six minutes to spare. |

When German automaker Porsche was preparing to release its first electric vehicle (EV) in 2019, executives met with a roomful of historians to test a slogan idea: "The world's first electric Porsche."How the world's first electric Porsche ended up in Melbourne via Pennsylvania. |

Your typical V8 Supercar or a GT3 race car will lap Mount Panorama in around 2mins 4 secs, but over the weekend Audi pulled it's road going RS e-tron GT for a few laps. Audi’s RS e-tron GT delivers a shock to the system. It took just 2mins 21secs to do a lap, not bad at all for a 2.4-tonne electric "road" car against full on race cars that weigh much less. |

7 minute read. Scratched EV battery? Your insurer may have to junk the whole car LONDON/DETROIT, March 20 (Reuters) - For many electric vehicles, there is no way to repair or assess even slightly damaged battery packs after accidents, forcing insurance companies to write off cars with few miles - leading to higher premiums and undercutting gains from going electric.... Unless Tesla and other carmakers produce more easily repairable battery packs and provide third-party access to battery cell data, already-high insurance premiums will keep rising as EV sales grow and more low-mileage cars get scrapped after collisions, insurers and industry experts said. |

That's some price increase. Ford hikes F-150 Lightning's price again to battle high costs The base variant of Ford's electric F-150 truck now starts at $59,974, excluding shipping and taxes, up nearly 50% from its starting price when launched last year. |

The next problem to be sorted out, Multi-story car parks. Most car parks were built in the late 60's and 70's, the most popular cars in the UK at that time, Cortinas and Vivas weighed about 770kg. The current Tesla 3 weighs in at 1672kgs and even the Nissan Leaf, one of the smallest EV's comes in at 1580kgs. Were the car parks designed to take this extra weight and even if they were have they been maintained well enough to take the designed load. If not then are we going to see weight limits, or closures, or are thge owners going to ignore the problem until we have a collapse? |

That's good... At long last we can have parking spaces that are doubled in size so that the humans are not doubled up in contortions to squeeze out of ridiculously small gaps for the overcrowded too-small parking spaces. Hopefully that will also reduce the cost of repairing the dings from other's struggles with extricating themselves after parking up... An update in the regulations needed?... Stay cool folks... or are the owners going to ignore the problem until we have a collapse? Probably, then we will see weight limits imposed, and most "small" cars will exceed the imposed limit with the drivers being ignorant of this until the penalty notices start landing through the post. That's good... The small spaces are again a hangover from the 60's/70's as cars were also narrower then. We like our comforts and a bit of space too much and expect electric windows and mirrors these days, so cars got wider. If you want wider parking spaces, then be prepared to pay more, the owners and shareholders cannot be expected to lose money, can they, it would probably be guarenteed that maintenance would be reduced, increasing the chances of a collapse. |

Guess his extension cord was not long enough. “Towed my first EV Today… a brand new $90,000 electric pickup from the rest area on South Pass to Rocksprings…” Jake Yeaman, tow truck operator with Specialty Towing, wrote in a Facebook post. |

Guess his extension cord was not long enough. There needs to be a figure quoted for, max milage when the weather is cold and wet at night in hilly country, in the specs. |

Knock a couple of zeros off the price and this would be a real buzz. Tiny Electric Car Cost $420,000 To Build (video). A MAN claims he has created a car that might solve the world’s traffic congestion problems. Rick Woodbury from Spokane, Washington USA, is the president, founder and sole employee of ‘Commuter Cars.’ The carmaker’s flagship model is the 2005 super slim two-seater Tango T600, a high-performance electric car that preceded Tesla. Rick told BTV: “I started this company 21 years ago – it was based on an idea that I came up with in 1982.” He was inspired by the shocking traffic congestion he had to face on a daily basis. |

Have they? Scientists just invented a new material that could help EVs drive 10 times as far before needing a recharge. Electric vehicles are taking the world by storm — and now, new research in lithium-ion batteries could expand EVs’ driving range up to ten times. |

Donny gets fact checked on his EV claims. Trump’s Misleading Claims About Electric Vehicles and the Auto Industry. In a speech at a Michigan auto parts plant, former President Donald Trump distorted the facts about electric vehicles and the U.S. auto industry. The battery issue was about the only thing that he was about half right about. |
