NASA restores contact with Voyager 2

Controllers sent the wrong command to the 46-year-old spacecraft and tilted its antenna away from Earth.
NASA's Deep Space Network sent a new command in hopes of repointing the antenna, using the highest powered transmitter at the huge radio dish antenna in Canberra. Voyager 2's antenna needed to be shifted a mere 2 degrees.

It took more than 18 hours for the command to reach Voyager 2 — more than 19 billion kilometres away — and another 18 hours to hear back.
The long shot paid off.

The spacecraft started returning data again, according to officials at California's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Maybe a mere angle, but it means that Voyager would have been transmitting and listening to a point 660,000,000 km away from Earth.

Florida cemetery buries widow with wrong husband — not once, but twice.

For the second time in the past year, a deceased widow has been interred with the wrong late husband at Florida National Cemetery.

The veteran’s cemetery, located in Bushnell, first came under scrutiny last August when the cremains of a woman were mistakenly mixed with the wrong veteran’s cremains.

This summer, there was another mistake: A widow’s casket was found in a crypt with the wrong late husband.

Jack Hales, a Texas attorney who specializes in cemetery and funeral home negligence, called the mistakes “horrendous.”

“It’s a very special type of trust that you’re giving and it opens that floodgate for, ‘What else was wrong?'” Hales said. “If they say they fixed it, can I trust that fix really happened?”

Local morticians who were contacted by Nexstar’s WFLA declined to comment on the mix-ups, due to their working relationships with the cemetery.....
