Biden comments a disgrace says Kremlin after he calls Putin a ‘crazy SOB’

The Kremlin has accused Joe Biden of debasing himself and disgracing his country after the US president called Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB” during a fundraiser in San Francisco.

Biden was talking about the climate crisis on Wednesday when he said: “We have a crazy SOB like Putin and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate.”...

Good to be able to say things as they are...

Biden is probably right, from an American perspective.

From the (continental) European perspective the current and existential threat is not a nuclear conflict or climate change. It is Putin's war of destruction against anything not Russian, against anyone who doesn't bend to his will. That's the existential threat Europe (and foremost Ukraine!) is facing... without a credible (European) containment plan.

Without sensible politicians who realistically assess all the facts and their strategic weakness. Instead they still find it more convenient to talk about climate change all the time instead of immediately correcting their own painful strategic mistakes vis-à-vis Russia's threats.

The Austrian military analyst Colonel Reisner summed it up in a lecture on 2023-11-15 at the German military academy in Munich:

"We just decided: the green energy transition is our topic. We want to build wind turbines..., not artillery shells. It's our decision how to deal with [Russia's aggression]. We don't know what the right decision is. It's "history in the making". It is not known whether "all-in" [supporting Ukraine] might persuade the Russians to respond nuclearly. That could be the case. Who would have thought that the Munich agreement of 1938 [Chamberlain's: "Peace For Our Time"] would not [prevent the world war]? Only historians will know the right decision... in five years."
