Cosmologist Zhang Tongjie, of Beijing Normal University, has begun a targeted SETI search at China's FAST radio observatory, home of the largest radio telescope in the world. He is hopeful that his search, with this, the most sensitive radio telescope ever built, will result in a real SETI detection. He will monitor star systems with known habitable-zone planets, over the next few months.
