You can bet there has been 'some incident' sometime 'about 6 years' ago that started an 'exclude' list. Since then, the exclusion list has expanded...

We do have a problem with a clash of cultures and a lack of education all round and no interest, let alone any funding, to do anything for usefully helping any of those groups involved.

I'll admit that my experiences/encounters have not been good. You're dealing with some long too long excluded and self-isolated and often 'hardened' groups...

Solutions on a postcard?...

All in our all too busy isolationist world,

Watch out, there's a Humphrey BP about.
Just in.
Census just received. Instead of a 32 page document, just 1 with an online ref no.
No problem, until 1 reads the 4 page help doc.

Please call if you need help completing it on paper.

Don't know what the other options are as selected 1 straight away.
Please enter your 10 digit number which is on the top right of the letter.

Message 2070048 - Posted: 5 Mar 2021, 20:56:22 UTC

Prof Sir Ian Diamond, the UK's National Statistician, has suggested 2021 could be the last census, as he is looking into cheaper and more up-to-date alternatives.
His team will work out whether accurate information could be obtained from other sources such as the Ordnance Survey, GP lists, council tax records and driving licence details.
Combined with regular, large-scale population surveys, this could provide better and more detailed information in a cheaper and more timely way, he says. No decisions have yet been taken.

Frizzle Frap.

Seems I own Governor screwsome care tax this year. I owe it because I earned less. YES. I owe a new tax because my income fell*.

For those of you elsewhere, screwsome care is Obama care, but run by gruesome Newsome. If it had been the original Obama care I would not have owed any. But the elephants in the room went on a rampage and repealed that but didn't replace it. So screwsome threw his version out there without realizing there are significant differences in how the Franchise Tax Board calculates income and how the Internal Revenue Service does. The original was written for IRS rules.

Got screwed!

*It fell for CA only because of those differences in calculation, Fed it was up.

(I think it isn't just going to be screwsome but screwmost!)

Yes, you do realize she is a registered republican, the only party that has to commit voter fraud.

All ridiculously silly!

That story sounds just like some cartoon dumb get-rich-quick sketch.

But that also shows up that system's vulnerability to a rogue employee.

Stay honestly safe folks!

A well spent £5.

Our "right wing" P.M. apologises over a false calm that he made while trying to defend his party's sex scandals and what he knew of them that are mounting by the day.

Morrison apologises for ‘wrong’ toilet claim.

He's definitely a "Sergeant Schultz", "I know nothing".

Covid sure has addled more than enough brains.
Can't stop chuckling with this comment from a boss...
It said the stores that were closing were in locations where it did not have enough customers. "Given the significant shift to online shopping in recent years - and our belief that this trend will not materially reverse - we do not think the performance of these eight stores can be substantially improved."
...the snobs will have to travel further out for their "luxuries".
John Lewis to close another 8 stores

“He said, ‘These people are buried in the ground [in Slonim],’” John said.
“‘They are buried and flattened.
“‘And here I am living my life.
“‘Whose side is God on?’
“I found that the most appalling thing I had ever heard.”
Could truth really be stranger than fiction?
You decide.

I think technology has made bureaucrats dumber than normal.
Just received snail mail.
"Dear householder
We've noticed that you have not submitted your census yet.
snip...
...if you've submitted it in the last week , thank you & please ignore this letter."
Going to do that anyway.
Census day - 21/3/21
Add on 7 days.
When did letter get produced & when was it posted?
Oh dear, their computer doesn't show that this household has submitted one.
Also (i'm guessing) that the computer hasn't registered the fact that a paper form was requested.

Bureaucrats all too often believe that respondents to a form receive the form before the ink on its paper thus have ever sent out reminders before the recipient has even seen the form - after all it's not their money that pays for paper and postage but that mystical "someone else".....

Tell me. Just got an invitation to commit fraud because a program has been extended and their computer should know I don't qualify, but lets send it to everyone because it is cheaper than only sending it to the eligible.

Funny you should post that.
I couldn't let it drop, so...
Your computer is registering the fact that you have not received a submission from this household.
It seems that your computer has also failed to recognise that a paper form was requested on 5/3/21 which has been received, completed & returned on 22/3/21.
Stop wasting taxpayers funds with sending out reminders.
For your information a week is 7 days.
Census day was 21/3/21, add on 7 days brings us to 28/3/21.
WHY was a reminder produced & sent out for receipt on 27/3/21?
Unable to add up?
Relying on a machine to do your thinking for you?
...just sent via their web form.
**** 'em.
Wonder what their reply will say.
