The last stars are still shinning but soon will start to death too. . . While I appreciate the sentiment, that seems a trifle melancholy ... I am trying to stay away from that stuff .. Stephen < big false smile > |

Really going to miss Number Crunching, I have read every post here for many years, even when I really had no idea what some were talking about. (especially Linux posts). I will miss you all and my morning sprint to this group. . . It's been nice and stay well ... Stephen . . |

I turned off accepting CPU work on my X4 630 rig a couple of days ago and once it runs out of them I'll stop accepting GPU work so once they're finished off I'll shut this rig down again. I only turned it on in the 1st place to see what sort of RAC I could get and 214K was where I peaked at and I was very happy with that (I really just wanted to see 200K and in the end I really didn't need to turn this rig on to get there). . . Well old timer, nice that you are still hanging in there with BOINC. I have turned off the GTX970/GTX1060 machines, too little work to justify them being on, but I am still running the 3 machines with the GTX950, GTX1050 and GTX1050ti running E@H and trying to pick up the odd SETI resend. I have added Rosetta to the i5 Windows machine, but not without some issues. For some reason I am having trouble getting Rosetta and E@H to pay nice together. I have it working fairly smoothly most of the time now but it still throws up the odd dummy spit. Stephen :( |

Mine still do! . . Hi There Raistmer, . . Glad you are still hanging around. New work long gone here and very, very few resends coming through. . . But the backlog is picking up speed on clearances. Stephen :) |

So....is anyone else leaving it running just to see what you might get from time to time, if anything? I received a WU on the 7th. I wonder how long these sporadic bits of data will continue to be sent out. . . Until all necessary resends are sent and returned and cleared. So be patient until the SSP shows all zeroes :) Stephen :) |

[ . . I wish any of my rigs had been that fortunate. Stephen :( |

Looks like Vince and Tom Cole have the honor of crunching the last work unit. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3953283759 So long folks. It's been an amazing 17 years for me. |

I had 4 machines crunching SETI. One ran out of work in the last hour and has been turned off. Now there are 3. I'll keep them running after they finish their WUs. One is the one I'm using to send this message and is my home laptop anyway. Another is for my ham shack. The last is my previous consulting laptop, but is still used for other purposes, as well. When SETI WUs are done it will be the end of an era, and not a happy time. The last machine finished its WUs early this morning. One machine has downloaded a WU that needed another look, but basically I'm just waiting for the final WUs to be validated to find out my final total. 3 are running PrimeGrid, one is turned off because it wasn't accepting all characters in the password (only about 1/2 of them - go figure). It's been fun, the last 20 years, but SETI is definitely winding down. |

I've been crunching S@H since May 1999, happy to be doing it right at the end, as well. Thanks! |

The S@H end will possible be like the end of the universe, the last shinning stars will be those who slowly burn their reserves of fuel. After that the entropy wins and all will end on a eternal cold & darkness. |

After trolling through my oldest pending tasks I reckon that it's safe to say that resends will still be going out by the 24th of May and there's at least 3 Win10 rigs out there with either overzealous AV's or are attached to ghost producing networks with 10-15K tasks each that will time out by then. Sadly most of those others of mine that I checked will be timed out and resent again due to those who have just stopped producing work since February and backup projects can't be blamed for what will be abandoned tasks in the end. Cheers. |

I got lucky today. :-) 15-Apr-2020 12:10:37 [SETI@home] Scheduler request completed: got 7 new tasks And they don't look like instant noise bombs either, unlike most of the resends I'd got since the end of fresh work. Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn. My alternative profile |

My machines are slow anyway so 7 tasks already last a good few hours, even on the faster one. I wish I could get some more though, haha. Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn. My alternative profile |

Most of my computers are out of SETI work. I changed 13 computers over to other projects will do the rest soon. Mike Bader BOINC V7.16.5 http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_join_form.php?id=5 - Join Our International Team [img]http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php? |

I noticed that my 2500K rig manage to grab 59 tasks while I was asleep. Cheers. |

These are just the instances where I got more than 10 at once; ---------------------- Main computer (i7 3770, Intel GPU) Tue 14 Apr 2020 05:48:01 PM ADT | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 25 new tasks Wed 15 Apr 2020 08:45:32 AM ADT | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 12 new tasks ---------------------- Mac (Core 2 Duo P7550, NVIDIA GeForce 9400) Sun 12 Apr 2020 09:31:05 AM ADT | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 35 new tasks Wed 15 Apr 2020 01:28:25 AM ADT | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 54 new tasks ---------------------- Laptop (Celeron N3050, Intel GPU) Mon 13 Apr 2020 02:42:13 AM ADT | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 138 new tasks ---------------------- Old Laptop (Pentium M) Mon 13 Apr 2020 02:20:39 AM ADT | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 11 new tasks ---------------------- All of these have been running non stop since regular distribution ended (but with only Intel GPU tasks left on the i7). Only my Android phone and Raspberry Pi which had a small cache due to storage constraints have completely run out so far. Given the speed of some of these systems and more potential resends it looks like some of my computers won't run out for weeks. |

I really had a streak of luck lately: 15-Apr-2020 23:31:46 [SETI@home] Scheduler request completed: got 2 new tasks <-- those two were instant noise bombs though 16-Apr-2020 00:02:18 [SETI@home] Scheduler request completed: got 6 new tasks 16-Apr-2020 02:04:32 [SETI@home] Scheduler request completed: got 106 new tasks <-- wow I eased the throttling to compute all this faster. Even then, this host will be busy with SETI for days. :-) Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn. My alternative profile |
