Pendings are gone. Inconclusives too. Some valids still there. I thank you slow crunchers, you hoarders and you deserting black holes. When the last of you is gone and the tasklist finally empty... Very good and a very good (mis)quote. Looks like overnight, the last of the s@h WUs cleared my various old systems: State: All (144) · In progress (0) · Validation pending (0) · Validation inconclusive (3) · Valid (140) · Invalid (0) · Error (1) That looks to end this phase of a remarkable search spanning about a quarter century and surviving multiple generations of advances in technology and huge increases in compute power. All driven by the same one team of researchers. Excellent stuff. Congratulations to everyone involved in whatever way. Now onwards to whatever next! Not quite completely dead yet! State: All (4932) · In progress (0) · Validation pending (4) · Validation inconclusive (28) · Valid (4868) · Invalid (32) · Error (0)I don't think BOINC has a very efficient 'off' switch for when a project wants to do a wrap. |

It is over State: All (109) · In progress (0) · Validation pending (0) · Validation inconclusive (0) · Valid (104) · Invalid (5) · Error (0) all the invalid Too many errors (may have bug) Too many total results |

Well Eric has posted on FB that the project will continue to accept results after the last canonical results are in. It might have been fairer to grant 75% of original credit up to 3 days after validation, 50% up to 7 days, and 10% up to deadline, when the replication is higher than the quorum. I think BOINC does have some options for faster cleanup, but the project has to enable them when sending out the re-sends, not when they have already been sent, and there are only 1-2% of wanted results among the million+ still In Progress. |

. . Adios Juan, Thanks Stephen. I will keep looking at the forums. Just only detached the host for Seti. Leaving it, for now, running E@H with 1 GPU enabled only. ![]() |

Well Eric has posted on FB that the project will continue to accept results after the last canonical results are in. For what? Credits? What about the talks like: We are here for the science not for credits. Was just bla bla bla? If the Science DB is closed, or the canonical was already reached, then anything after that is just a waste of crunching & electric power. Better abort the rest and switch the host, to where that could be useful, like any other project for example. my 0.02 ![]() |

Well Eric has posted on FB that the project will continue to accept results after the last canonical results are in. That is what I did with about 14 of mine, because I only have a single GPU that can process about 6 tasks per day. I got about 35 GPU tasks and 0 CPU last week. I had a small enough cache to prioritize the necessary work. Only problem was that the aborts reduce the future sending. My final Valid result on Android was a nessecary result for the quorum too :) I've still got 80 completed tasks, 0 Pendings or Inconclusives |

Only problem was that the aborts reduce the future sending. Agree but there will be no more future sending. :( At least for a long time. ![]() |

I would consider it just as polite parting from SETI side. It's waste of resources of course but will easy social aspect - all participants, especially those who not so involved as posters on these boards, will see that work they receive accepted and credit granted. Good feelings worth a little waste IMHO. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

Well stated, DC relies upon the good will of the volunteers. |

I'll agree with that. Also note that the social 'outreach' is an important part of s@h and Boinc. Very successfully too! Keep searchin', Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

Well, hold off on the end of crunching for me. I just had over 150 WUs downloaded to the one machine that is still crunching. That will keep it busy for a while longer. Anyone else? ![]() |

. . Adios Juan, . . In that case I look forward to chatting further. I am also running E@H but on all rigs. It does not evoke the same passion in me but hey the numbers are good :) And I harbour hope that Petri will have the interest to do his magic on their Nvidia app and make a Cuda10 version of it. I would like to see if he can achieve the same speed improvements he did for S@H. E@H might then be in for a bit of server fatigue. :) (or would that be 'server shock') Stephen :) |

I would consider it just as polite parting from SETI side. . . Yes, closure is a good thing and having your final results acknowledged is a nice way to close. Stephen :) PS, thanks for all your help even when I was probably annoying the c%^p out of you :) I really do love the work you did with SoG. I had lots of fun 'tweaking' it. Stephen |

Well stated, DC relies upon the good will of the volunteers. . . OK, one more time I will prove myself to be dumb, who or what is DC? Stephen ? |

Well, hold off on the end of crunching for me. I just had over 150 WUs downloaded to the one machine that is still crunching. That will keep it busy for a while longer. Anyone else? . . Pardon me while I scream ... I have seen that all outstanding tasks had a resend today UTC but, just as over the last few weeks, my 5 machines received NONE of them ... feeling unwanted <sulk>. . . Well this round should clear up 99.9% of the project. Stephen :) |

I'm going with "Distributed Computing". . . D'oh! See I knew it would be obvious once pointed out ... Stephen < shrug > |

I've just 6 inconclusives to go now. Cheers. |
