Hi, everyone,

I have downloaded BOINC for Windows (64 bit).
Now I have the problem that the program does not connect. (Restoring the connection to a client // current status is being determined)

Are the servers currently offline or what could be the reason? (Firewall is disabled, ports are open)

Thanks.
Many greetings

Which version, and what hardware are you running it on?

There is a known problem with trying to run the 64-bit version of BOINC on low-power Intel Celerons and some of the Core processors intended to run in miniature and fanless enclosures. As a workround, you can run the 32-bit version of BOINC on the affected machines.

Thanks. Your i7-8550U processor is a "Kaby Lake Refresh".

We don't have a comprehensive list of affected models, but that sounds fairly similar to (and a little newer than) my "Apollo Lake" Celeron J3455, which I bought to explore the problem and a possible future fix.

So I think it's worth trying the 32-bit workround on that machine.

Thanks for your answer.

In the meantime I already started the 32 bit version, unfortunately with the same problem.
Then I'll take another laptop.
