Since Windows 7 is dead now, decided to get more serious with linux so I tossed the current version of mint onto a laptop here (pulled it's ssd for another laptop and stuck a 30 gig ssd into it)

Naturally seti@home was going to end up on it. Does anyone know why some of the tasks are short, under a minute? I hope the system isn't sending out garbage data. if it is, i'll flush it out/retire to keep the data accurate and true.

is this a issue with my system, normal for the work units or something as a result of the server issues currently?

It's nothing to worry about. All the short-running tasks visible on the website are marked

SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow
NOTE: The number of results detected equals the storage space allocated.
This is one of the potential 'normal' outcomes, usually caused by radio frequency interference on the original data recording. You may see a higher than usual proportion of these at the moment, because software flaws in some SETI applications (not yours!) has generated some false results elsewhere, and they are being rechecked more carefully.

Thanks, i'll let it run again then. Just didn't want to be flooding the server/other folks with garbage data
