Message 2027696 - Posted: 15 Jan 2020, 16:08:53 UTC - in response to Message 2027682.

the communication from the guys running the show to us is pretty lacking to say the least.
To put it into perspective, it's 06:40 hours there, in the morning. Mind if they wake up first? It's not as if the world will be destroyed if we don't get an answer immediately. Why is everyone demanding and in such a hurry these days? If something worthwhile needs to be communicated, I'm sure they will - eventually - during their day.

. . Yep I am sure they have a lot on their plates with all that has happened over the last few weeks and things that are planned for the "near?" future ...

On Jan 14th 2020 @ 10:00PM EST I have been trying to upload the past work units. I know on Tuesday's they do something with the servers. I still am not able to upload old work units & receive new work units today 1/15/2020 @ 10:10 Am. Whats up with this?

. . Eerrrmm, the maintenance outage is in overtime ... have you actually read any of the response messages in your event log? It is a good idea to read them from time to time ...

Message 2027700 - Posted: 15 Jan 2020, 16:17:51 UTC - in response to Message 2027694.

I'm wondering if the outrage was so long as they bought/received the new 16TB drive array and were migrating all the data over from the old 2TB array.
I'll stick to that rather than that the project is just broken. :^)

. . That thought had crossed my mind as well .. Sounds like a good theory to me :)

Ahhh, poop ... it's about 8:17am here on the US west coast and my machine is running cool and cold. No tasks. :(

"Communication deferred 00:49:05"

I'm going to help Milkway @ Home for a little while and then switch back.

Let's hope the SETI team can get everything up and running soon! :)

If you look at the SSP it has been frozen for the last 3 hours at "As of 15 Jan 2020, 13:01:05 UTC"

We deserve an update because many of us like you have spent MONEY and devoted TIME for this project. I built a stack of Rasp. Pis and purchased a Ryzen 7 system ONLY for this project and I spend more MONEY for electricity since they run 24/7/365. A short message is NOT unreasonable.

Go ahead and disagree - we'll both stand our ground.
I'm putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all, I think, that any conscious entity can ever hope to do.

Message 2027709 - Posted: 15 Jan 2020, 16:55:09 UTC

I just restarted using SETI again after many years, and the program is new to me. I downloaded it on my laptops, and tasks started running, but the tasks finished, and the program now says no work available to process.
I thought this would automatically upload the old work that had finished, and receive new work.
Do I need to do something, I am not sure what to do now?

I can apparently report tasks now if I set 'no new tasks'. But can't get any new work because if 'no new tasks' is off, I get just timeouts and internal server errors.

Ahh so it's not just me? Some machines are connected, can't add project to new machines ... uploads are failing on all machines and i've got all manner of connection issues going on.

Other BOINC projects are fine, just not SETI ones.

Is it just a case of sit and be patient?

Web site was MIA for a while there, forums slow as slow, scheduler is MIA "HTTP service unavailable" or "HTTP internal server error" is all i'm getting.

Edit- now I'm also getting "Failure when receiving data from the peer" and "Couldn't connect to server"; everything but a Scheduler response.
I'm confident that the first one (of many) will eventually be "Project has no tasks available"

I'll just go do some crunching on other stuff :-) Can't really complain, in almost 21 years this has been the first really extended outage i've had.

We're having an unusually long server maintenance (always starts on Tuesdays). Give it another day or two and you should get some work.

I haven't been able to report my completed work from yesterday, even with NNT set and report limit reduced to 20. either hits a timeout or HTTP internal error

I just had one go through with NNT and then the next failed, so hit or miss.
