Since I upgraded to Fedora 27 I'm now on Fedora 29 the boincmgr nor command line have been able to connect to the client. In the past I had never had a line item in the firewall for the boinc-client service. I added that line today with port 31416 restarted firewall and boinc client and still no success. boinccmd --host localhost -p 81e481120feb3109d1aa5fb32e3a2ea9 --read_cc_config can't connect to localhost There is a boinc user and group and I am a member of the group. I've downgraded to boinc version 7.8.3.2 . Fedora29 defaults to a version >7.11. Is there other steps I can take to troubleshoot this? I have boinc running on another computer running Scientific Linux version 7 without issues or entries in the firewall. |

So just to see if it was a firewall issue I installed Boinc on a machine running Fedora 31 and after adding myself to the boinc group and changing the permissions on /var/lib/gui_rpc_auth.cfg to 640 so that group could read the file I was able to access the client with the boincmgr. I had not made any modifications to the firewall to allow access to ports. Both machines are running a 7.16 version of boinc just not the same subversion below that. |

Finally upgraded this machine to F31 installed boinc version 7.16.1-5 as provided by the distro and now I can connect to seti. |
