I have been unsuccessful in resolving this item on my own, so decided to ask for help. This is the link to the machine in question. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=8672086 It has a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4095MB) driver: 441.66 OpenCL: 1.2 video card. The startup log shows: 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.14.2 for windows_x86_64 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Libraries: libcurl/7.47.1 OpenSSL/1.0.2g zlib/1.2.8 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Data directory: D:\BOINC_Data 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Running under account User 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (driver version 441.66, CUDA version 10.2, compute capability 6.1, 4096MB, 3376MB available, 2138 GFLOPS peak) 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (driver version 441.66, device version OpenCL 1.2 CUDA, 4096MB, 3376MB available, 2138 GFLOPS peak) 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Host name: RPHNet-Desktop3 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Processor: 20 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900X CPU @ 3.50GHz [Family 6 Model 85 Stepping 4] 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 fma cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 movebe popcnt aes f16c rdrandsyscall nx lm avx avx2 vmx tm2 dca pbe fsgsbase bmi1 hle smep bmi2 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | OS: Microsoft Windows 10: Professional x64 Edition, (10.00.18363.00) 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Memory: 31.69 GB physical, 36.44 GB virtual 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Disk: 1.82 TB total, 1.28 TB free 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Local time is UTC -5 hours 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | No WSL found. 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | VirtualBox version: 5.2.8 12/21/2019 10:23:54 AM | | Config: use all coprocessors 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | Einstein@Home | URL http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/; Computer ID 12767527; resource share 25 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | SETI@home | URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 8672086; resource share 100 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | Einstein@Home | General prefs: from Einstein@Home (last modified 22-May-2011 14:13:07) 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | Einstein@Home | Host location: none 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | Einstein@Home | General prefs: using your defaults 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Reading preferences override file 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Preferences: 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | max memory usage when active: 16223.18 MB 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | max memory usage when idle: 29201.72 MB 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | max disk usage: 100.00 GB 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | max CPUs used: 10 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | don't use GPU while active 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 50% 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select Preferences in the Manager) 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Setting up project and slot directories 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Checking active tasks 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Setting up GUI RPC socket 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Checking presence of 1260 project files 12/21/2019 10:23:55 AM | | Suspending GPU computation - computer is in use In both my projects (Einstein and SETI), the properties dialog box (from within the Manager app) indicate Don't request tasks for NVIDIA GPU as a Project preference - which does not make sense (see below): General URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ User name RPHNet Team name Almoney Resource share 100 Disk usage 121.70 MB Computer ID 8672086 Suspended via GUI no Don't request tasks no Host location home Tasks completed 54,645 Tasks failed 3 Credit User 24,587,783 total, 19,825.31 average Host 3,779,038 total, 12,026.43 average Scheduling Scheduling priority -0.95 Don't request tasks for NVIDIA GPU <== !!!!!!!! Project preference <== !!!!!!!! Last scheduler reply 12/21/2019 9:27:37 AM and lastly, the compute preferences are set to use the GPU to local preferences (ie use when not in use for 3 minutes). I would appreciate an assist on this one. This NVIDIA GPU is the only one I have in my fleet. My other units have AMD GPUs -- for which I never had this problem. Thank-you very much, RPH |

The servers have been having problems for the last couple of days, and very few tasks are being sent out. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Unfortunately, this has been an issue for almost a year at this point. I don't think that is the problem. This machine is NEVER received a GPU job... RPH |

Sadly that is one rabbit hole that's closed off. One thing I don't see in your log extract (which shuts off another rabbit hole) is any calls for work, so let's see if you have actually set up that. Go to this page https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project (its the same address for everyone, but magic happens and it knows who you are),about half way down there are a couple of check-box options for which GPUs to use (if any) - make sure the "Use NVIDIA GPU" box is checked. (you have to select "edit preferences" first, but you can see if it is or isn't without doing so) The status of this will help sort out other possible options. Oddly, the "Use NVIDIA GPU" box was indeed unchecked. I had never actually seen this preferences screen. It must have been dumb luck that all my other GPU-types were "checked" Not sure why the AstroPulse v7 box was unchecked either -- so I re-selected that one too (see summary below). Resource share 100 Use CPU - checked Use ATI GPU - checked Use NVIDIA GPU - was unchecked, NOW Checked Use Intel GPU - checked ... Run only the selected applications AstroPulse v7: no SETI@home v8: yes If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? yes I have set the local BOINC Manager to "Use GPU Always" for the time being to see if I get any activity with this change. The local "Properties" box has now changed to: NVIDIA GPU task request deferred for 00:06:55 NVIDIA GPU task request deferral interval 00:10:00 (which is a good sign). I will confirm operation once I see activity. Thank-you. This was quite the conundrum... RPH |

That's looking promising. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I can report success. Both SETI and Einstein GPU jobs have been received and processed. I thank-you for the assist and wish you a great holiday. Thank-you Again. RPH |
