Yes it certainly doesn't bode well especially when new cases over there are exploding "South of the Line".

Meanwhile over here our problem state may wind up in lock down again.

Where are Victoria's coronavirus hotspots and how are authorities dealing with them?

In a country your size and with such a low average population density it is fairly easy (and possibly safe) to have different control regimes in place depending on the local circumstance. But in a country like the UK where we have a fairly high average population density then it is harder to see localised variations being effective.

It saddens me to see that while other countries are either maintain or increasing their testing regimes the US, or more specifically the US President, is reducing its testing. I'm not sure of the pretext for such a move, but maybe it is based on the assumption that if you don't test you don't find and so it will go away. Sadly I doubt that Corvid-19 reads that page of the book :-(

For maximum deterrent value a bit of chicken manure in the mixture would improve matters....

Well, if it improves their brain power the result might be that they realise and understand the mess and damage they are causing and not do it. That might be considered a "victory".

Express - EU heading for Trump showdown as it looks to BAN US travellers as coronavirus spreads
THE European Union may impose a travel ban on Americans in a bid to keep out the coronavirus as the continent tentatively reopens its borders after months on lockdown, reports suggest.

Countries on the E.U. draft lists have been selected as safe based on a combination of epidemiological criteria. The benchmark is the E.U. average number of new infections — over the past 14 days — per 100,000 people, which is currently 16 for the bloc. The comparable number for the United States is 107, while Brazil’s is 190 and Russia’s is 80, according to a Times database.

Here he is. Anders Tegnell.

According to foreign media he have murdered about more then 5000 people mostly elderly people!
https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/tegnell-som-om-varlden-blev-galen
The corona virus is unpredictable and it is difficult to know which methods have the best effect, says Tegnell. But one thing that many seem to forget is that some efforts against the pandemic can have negative effects.
- We know, for example, that it is negative not to meet others, it creates loneliness. The isolation of couples increases the risk of female abuse. Not working and being unemployed greatly increases the risk of many illnesses in the long run. Closing schools is the most obvious example. Children who do not attend school lose a social context, miss school meals and risk not getting valid final grades. Factors that greatly affect their chances of living a life with good health.
For example. The alcohol consumption has increased by 50% and the suicides has also increased. And the unemployment's are sky rocketing. That's even that Sweden have a "soft" lock-down.

btw. Sweden doesn't promote to get a herd immunity instead of a lock-down that foreign media always says. That's a lie!
And that we have so high mortality is because the health care for elderly, that is the majority of people dying of Covid-19, haven't worked for decades. "Why prepare for something like a pandemic and having expensive stockpiles. Nah. We supply everything 'just in time' " politicians says.

When district doctor Karin Brandberg put two and two together, she suspected that one of her patients had had corona - already around the turn of the year. A suspicion that was then strengthened after analyzes and sampling.
- It says something about this virus - that we still know so little, says Karin Brandberg.
Already in December, doctors in Dalarna believe that they had coronamitta in the community Svärdsjö outside Falun.
[A very small community outside a small town]
- She's been infected here, we're pretty sure - she's not been anywhere else, Karin says.

Conn., NY, NJ Announce Travel Advisory Requiring Self-Quarantine of Visitors From COVID-19 Hotspots
New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will impose a self-quarantine requirement on travelers from any state where infections pass a certain level
The order currently applies to nine states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah, Texas. The quarantine be voluntary to start in Connecticut.
Connecticut residents who travel to those highly-infected states will need to self-quarantine when they return home

The criteria for states that have a high infection rate are 10 infections per 100,000 residents on a seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the state's total population infected on rolling seven day average, said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo
The quarantine will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Governor Ned Lamont said.

Now we just need to get Trump to go to Trump Tower or one of his 3 golf courses in that area, and watch his melt down. He was in Arizona yesterday.

Didn't you know that the Genius and self appointed Surgeon General Trump is immune to all diseases? Both as a carrier or a receiver.

I'm certainly glad that we don't have such a foolish idiot running our country.

Trump administration ending support for drive-thru testing sites.

And doing this at a time when infection numbers are going ballistics over there.

Does little old Donny have a brain left at all?

The numbers of infections go up, the number of votes for King Donald goes down. So it stands to reason less tests, less infections, more votes. Isn't amazing how an status quo brain works?

Love this comment:
I can't understand people standing in line at shops, two metres apart and then immediately afterwards, getting direct alongside you, or right in your face. It's every day and every where you go!

OK. Here is a fact about the Swedish "lax" handling to beat the corona virus.

I guess there are but not the countries that crying out loud how bad Sweden are !

Well yes I can throw several at you but let's just try this one so that I don't get too carried away with 1's that'll make things look even worse. ;-)

Other than that the worldwide count of reported cases has passed 9.7 million and 491,000 reported deaths, but we all know that those numbers are short.

The U.S. which has passed 2.5 million reported cases is doing it's best to out do Brazil reporting over 40,000 new cases in the last 24hr period, but Brazil was still around 500 cases clear of that while passing 55,000 reported deaths. India's daily count just keeps on going up too with over 18,000 new cases reported.

Mexico took 11th spot from Germany and has become the 11th country to pass 200,000 reported cases while becoming the 7th country to pass 25,000 deaths, but Turkey and Pakistan should knock Germany back another 2 spots by the end of this reporting day. Colombia will likely take 21st place from China in that same period, but there are still many rising countries that are quickly closing gaps on others.

Meanwhile the best example of all is still Vietnam (15th by population) down in 156th place by reported cases and 187th by reported deaths (I'm sorry about that 1 Sten and their numbers have been verified by many others who couldn't believe them at 1st either, plus they're very happy to let others check as well), but there are still many other countries that are still dropping down the ranks faster than others.
