(CNN)For the first time in 19 years, a team of scientists has detected a new strain of HIV.
The strain is a part of the Group M version of HIV-1, the same family of virus subtypes to blame for the global HIV pandemic, according to Abbott Laboratories, which conducted the research along with the University of Missouri, Kansas City. The findings were published Wednesday in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes.

(CNN) More than 2 million pounds of poultry products have been recalled in eight states over fears of contamination with foreign matter such as metal, federal health officials said.
Arkansas-based Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc. recalled the items produced from October 21 through November 4 this year. They are 2,071,397 pounds of poultry products, including ready to cook chicken whole legs, boneless skinless chicken, halal chicken leg quarters and chicken tenderloins, the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Wednesday.
The products subject to recall have an establishment number "P-1949," "P- 486" or "P-5837" inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped to Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
Those who've purchased the products are urged to throw them away or return them to the store.

Nov. 21 (UPI) -- Health officials in Miami-Dade County, Fla., issued a mosquito-borne illness alert after doctors diagnosed another resident with dengue, a virus that has been seen in record numbers in the Americas this year.

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County said there have been 11 cases of the virus in the county so far in 2019.

The dengue virus is spread to humans through mosquito bites and can cause flu-like symptoms, including fever, aches, pain, nausea and rash, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

Norovirus is a highly contagious bug that causes diarrhea, vomiting and other symptoms and can spread quickly in public places. It's more common in winter but can be seen any time of year.
