As that rain finally arrives here The Bureau of Meteorology has issued major flood warnings for one state, as residents in Burketown have been told to evacuate before dark or they’ll be trapped. Stay safe and dry. Cheers. |

Burketown is on the Albert River, to the West is the Nicholson & the East the Reichardt, with lots of little creeks here & there feeding them. With the current flooding, all three rivers have effectively become one river, over 50km across with just little patches of higher ground here & there, and this is roughly 30km from the coast (image in post above). All that flat land and all that water. Images reveal the scale of catastrophic flooding in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Stay safe and dry. Cheers. |

As the floodwaters recede the cleanup begins. Gulf of Carpentaria farmers return to 'complete devastation' on flood-ravaged properties. Cheers. |

The rain is really dumping down here this morning along with some good rumbles of thunder so it's going to be a wet road trip for me today. Stay safe and dry. Cheers. |

It's taken a month, but the main body of flood waters have made it down to Bedourie. The flood is expected to peak in the next week or so, as it continues it's way down to Lake Eyre. Outback town of Bedourie becomes an island as Queensland flooding continues. After four months of flooding, residents have started referring to the water surrounding them as "the Bedourie Sea". Well Cyclone Ilsa hit the coast at 2am (on that side of the country) as a Cat.5 system and I'd imagine that the damage reports will come pouring in once the sun lights up that side of the continent. Stay safe and dry. Cheers. |

It seems that those down south will see more of this for a while. Southern lights events expected to increase over next two years as sun reaches solar maximum. Cheers. |

No wonder it's so f'ing cold here today. Cold front delivers snow, hail to large parts of Australia with more cold weather to come. Snow, strong winds, wild surf hit NSW as weather records set in freezing autumn night. It kicked off here today at 0C (felt like -5C) and reached 11C (felt like 3C) while -3C is expected tomorrow morning, though we shouldn't have this gale blowing with 16C being expected, and if the breeze drops off overnight we maybe in for a good frost. Cheers. |

The snow skiers should be happy. Sydney set for driest winter since 1938, good news for snowgoers. Meanwhile just get our butts frozen further north. Stay warm. Cheers. |

It looks like our snow season is at an early end. Australia thaws in mid-winter warmth — is winter over? Cheers. |
