Going back 45 years to when my paternal grandmother was alive, I remember her playing solitaire(with real cards, obviously), and nowadays when I try to play online, it's all so confusing me. There's a ridiculous number of versions! What would be the one she used to play? Back in the 70's, my dad used to play the card game, War, with me, and I liked that. It was simple, and I could win, sometimes. ;~) I never learned anything else, really, except, Crazy Eights, and Hearts, and Old Maid, and I can play Blackjack, but that's about it. I went downstairs a little while ago, and brought up this box of old card games, and took a picture. What do you like to play? Does anybody play poker? Canasta? I do not have partners to play with. So I play with my iPad. Solitaire, spades and hearts are fun. |

I do not have partners to play with. Well, me neither. That's why I was wondering about Solitaire. What version is the easiest? I used to think there was only one until I started looking online. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I've had one on my computers since forever, that has about 90 games, some are just variations though. https://www.old-games.com/download/5565/solitude-for-windows @Gordon, Clock is about the easiest, my Dad taught it to me when I was about 5. |

@Gordon, Clock is about the easiest, my Dad taught it to me when I was about 5. I think I've heard of that, but I'm still curious what my grandmother played. She laid out the cards in what I consider the standard Solitaire way, and built up the suits, but there are so many variations on that theme you can play online, it's crazy! For instance, go to this site - https://worldofsolitaire.com/ - and click on "choose game", and it gives you a dizzying list of possibilities. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Klondike (Single Deck) Ok, that's probably what I need to play. I guess that's what Windows first offered? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I enjoy pinochle That's an oldie. :~) I've never played it, though. My mind always conjures up Felix and Oscar sitting around with their buddies playing cards. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

We play poker with our nieces and nephews down in Fresno. There are lots of poker game versions and Eric knows many of them. We play with pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters - everybody starting out with an equal amount. The biggest winner at the end of the game gets to extract a big, mutually agreed upon prize from each of the losers. The last time we played our nephew Markie's girlfriend, Meghan, was the big winner. From me she got a box of cookies, which I mailed her about a week after we got home. From "Funcle" Eric she got a check to pay for one of her college applications. (It costs a whole lot more to apply to college now than it did when Eric and I were that age!!!) Markie had to wear an opposing team's sports jersey to some sort of public event the two of them were scheduled to attend together. Kathryn, Markie's sister, made dinner one night and had Meghan over. Markie and Kathryn's mother, my sister-in-law Marleen, had to go to bed one hour earlier than usual for a full week. Marleen is a terrible night owl and she is chronically sleep deprived. Whenever we play with Marleen and win, that is the prize we demand from her. Our poker tournaments are always all in good fun and we look forward to the next one. |

Markie had to wear an opposing team's sports jersey to some sort of public event the two of them were scheduled to attend together. Now that's a rough penalty! The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Markie had to wear an opposing team's sports jersey to some sort of public event the two of them were scheduled to attend together. It is, but Markie is a mature young man for his age and I'm sure he pulled it off with class, grace and humor. |
