We were born before television ...
BBC Television was officially launched on 2 November 1936.

The first regular electronic television service in Germany began in Berlin on March 22, 1935, but most British people don't know that.

Chris, if you hadn't of made such a silly and false post to begin with then you wouldn't have got the results that you wound up with. ;-)

Cheers.

There’s a even larger group of us that lived in the B.C. Era “Before Cable”. And the word processor was around for umpteen years.

Lol.

4. Amazing how dead projects attract brain dead people.
Well. the club requires a Club Secretary. Due to the coronavirus, it has been put forward & the motion carried that you should remain Club Secretary for the foreseeable future. :-)

On a point of order Mr Chairman, the person nominated has chosen not to stand for the position.

The Club rules Para 6, sub-para 3.2, state that in that event, the Chairman will take on both positions until such time that a suitable and willing candidate puts themselves forward for nomination, with two referees.

Order, Orderrrrr.

In which case under standing orders, the current Chairman and Secretary, will re-assume their duties as from now.

Meeting closed.

Not an option, you have been volunteered and it has been accepted unanimously.
So get to work and ensure that all paperwork is always honest and factual.

Now on a more serious note.

The last Qantas Boeing 747 leaves a flourish in the sky as it says goodbye to Australia.

Qantas's last passenger jumbo jet, the Boeing 747, has departed Australia for the final time, with the "Queen of the Skies" leaving one last flourish — drawing a kangaroo over the Pacific Ocean.

Flight QF7474 flew out from Sydney Airport on Wednesday afternoon and provided entertainment to hundreds of plane spotters.

The jumbo jet is headed to retirement in the Mojave Desert in the United States, after Qantas brought forward the scheduled retirement of the fleet by six months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There were plenty of tears at the 747's farewell ceremony at Sydney Airport, with video tributes and poem recitals for the aircraft that has served Australians for almost 50 years.

Cheers.

It appears that for some reason all of a sudden my computer doesn't recognize seti@home as a safe site. Every time I log in I get a warning of a privacy error (NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID) and then I have to bypass the warning to enter plus every time I navigate to a new page I get the same message.

Plenty doing cargo these days, indeed I think there are still a few b747-800 being converted to b474-800(BC)F. Plenty of life in the old girls yet.

Why don't they just shut the lot down and be done with it.
Because it was said that the forums would still be active. And having a sever back in the lab handling the web site & forums would cost a lot less than one based in the data centre.

Do away with the forums?! Are you mad!?
There are a few people out there that their social circle is this circle. And I am one of them. I live alone with barely any social interaction outside of work. So I am happy this site is still up and people are still posting.
