OK, this has most likely been asked before by someone else at some point, but I couldn't find it in the threads, so..... Regarding RAC: in what units are they? # of work units completed, 'cobblestones' (and just what is a 'cobblestone' anyhow?), what? Mike B. |

From the BOINC Wiki A BOINC project gives you credit for the computations your computers perform for it. BOINC's unit of credit, the Cobblestone (named after Jeff Cobb of SETI@home), is 1/200 day of CPU time on a reference computer that does 1,000 MFLOPS based on the Whetstone benchmark Or another way of looking at it a 1 GigaFLOP machine, running full time, produces 200 units of credit in 1 day However, Seti uses Credit New, and for too many reasons to go into (yet again), the amount of Credit that is paid out is considerably less than what is defined as a Cobblestone. Other projects payout amounts that are close to the official definition, and there are still other projects that ignore it entirely & payout well above (way, way, way, waaaay above) the definition. RAC stands for Recent Average Credit. Credit is what you get for finishing a task without error Recent, it is actually a few weeks of results Averaged Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I have a question too. I made it to a silver medal with a RAC in the 8500 - 9200 range. What are the defined "medal" limits for - Bronze Silver Gold Thank you. I'm putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all, I think, that any conscious entity can ever hope to do. |

I have a question too. I made it to a silver medal with a RAC in the 8500 - 9200 range. What are the defined "medal" limits for - Gold is the top 1%. Silver is the rest in top 5%. Bronze is the what's left of the top 25%. Cheers. |

Maybe they should have a few more metal positions for low but steady RAC achievers. Maybe a "plastic" for android users. Then "Tin Foil" for higher low RACs. And finally "Gold Leaf" before leaving the low end. This could apply for everyone with low but steady RAC. |
