Very interesting article. Great Voids. https://www.sciencealert.com/a-giant-wall-of-galaxies-has-been-found-stretching-across-the-universe A Giant 'Wall' of Galaxies Has Been Found Stretching Across The Universe MICHELLE STARR 14 JULY 2020 The Universe isn't just a random scattering of galaxies sprinkled throughout an expanding void. The closer we look, the more we see that there are structures - some of which are incomprehensibly vast groupings and clusters of galaxies that are gravitationally bound together. The research has been published in The Astrophysical Journal. Hi! ML1 |

Wow, it's been 28 days since anyone has posted in the science forum. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

I've read that Africa is largely free from Covid-19, despite the poor hygiene conditions prevailing in many African states. Is this a genetic result or what? Tullio |

I've read that Africa is largely free from Covid-19, despite the poor hygiene conditions prevailing in many African states. Is this a genetic result or what? The 'what' might be that they are already inoculated against the coronavirus type of viruses... From prior 'unnoticed' epidemics?... Or that the environment there is too dry for the widespread spread of the moisture dependent coronavirus? Good questions! But what answers? Stay safe! On average over the last two decades, 12 accidental fragmentations have occurred in space every year - "and this trend is unfortunately increasing", the agency said.Should we be worried? |

A giant lake is hiding beneath Greenland’s ice sheet The lake would have covered 2,700 square miles, though it’s hard to tell how old the lake truly is. |

Google has produced DeepMind, which defeated a "go" champion. Deep Mind generated AlphaFold. Maybe supercomputers are losing ground to neural networks. Tullio |

Appears this "professor" is promoting his new book which is mentioned in the linked article A Harvard professor says an alien visited in 2017 — and more are coming When the first sign of intelligent life visits us from space, it won’t be a giant saucer hovering over New York. More likely, it will be an alien civilization’s trash. |

If we are not alone, are we the smartest kids on the block? A very good question. |

Some time ago, saw on a thread regarding a photo of Arecibo no longer available. Can't remember which one, so thought I'd post this. |

There's recent thread in the SETI Science area - that might be where you saw the picture (which was obviously taken in happier times for the large dish at Arecibo) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Not quite. Never saw the picture but IIRC, a poster was inquiring about why the picture is not available. I think the aim was to hold onto the image to preserve the memory of Arecibo. |
