Does anybody in the cafe (or do you know someone in a different project) that lives near to Byron.

Byron Leigh Hatch @ team Carl Sagan

His last post leaves us wondering:

thank you every one I am so sick I do not have a family .... I can barely type this post I will call ambliance and go to hospital ..... to live or to die ...... byron

He does have family. He has peopple that respect and care for him for more than a generation. He has us.

Anyway if you are in Canada or know others through the projects that are close to where he is can you ask if they would give him a call or drop in on him.

To the Mods. I prefer this thread deleted as soon as somebody picks up the call and is able to speak to Byron on the phone or visit him at home or hospital.

It would be grand if it were possible for somebody to pay him a personal visit and tell him of our regard for him.
Assuming they were able to stabilize him and he is resting comfortably.
I hope that both are somehow possible.

Me too.

I have a friend who has family in Canada. They're more east coast though. I don't know how easy/difficult it is to ring round hospitals in the vicinity of Vancouver to ask if they have a patient with the name of Leigh Hatch. I've found data protection rules here can make it very difficult to even track down an other-half in a hospital you know they're in, but it might at least be a start. I will ask. It's slightly complicated by the fact his aunt there only recently died :( so it may be too big an ask of them, but I'll run it by him and see what he thinks. I wish I could do better than that though.

edit: answering machine :( Probably out enjoying the weather. I've left a message asking for a call back when they have a moment.

I don't know but given his long history on the boards perhaps somebody has a connection.

Just giving a shout out to those who might know or know those who knows.

If anyone has his address maybe something along this line could help:

Returning home late one night some years ago, heard noise & voices outside the flat upstairs. Took a peek & saw 2 police officers, one removing the door lock. They had received a call passing on concerns over the guy's welfare. Told them to come to my flat once they checked the flat knowing that they wouldn't find Peter there.

I didn't know Peter's location but I did know who he was with. Gave them his friends name & mobile number.

The following evening I was personally gobsmacked. Both officers returned & said thanks & shook my hand as too often they had to deal with sad sights, so to have a good result made their day.

On a day to day basis, most police officers are just decent people like ourselves. A quick call to his local police station...

I have found this, so maybe a call out on social media to help?

Team Carl Sagan

He does have a FB page but can't see anything on it past 2011.

Yes, as I wrote a few posts up, she does.

I'm sure that CRL knows how to get in touch with her.

Cheers.

Checking hospitals is good. Problem though is Byron's last post. What if he was unable to get to or use the phone? It is out there that he lost his brother in 2016. Looking at the obituary, tried to obtain an e-mail address for the company concerned, but no joy :-( He does have relatives so maybe someone in Canada can go that route?

Another update from Candorchasma:

I’ve called these hospitals...
....

Taking such time and effort is heart warming.

I had an issue some years ago where I needed to find someone in Germany.

The approach was to call "social services" and the "town council" and engage their interest.

They may not give out details but they will if possible locate a person and let you know that they are well.

Anyway as I'm in England and don't have Byrons specific details I have to ask people closer to check this path out:

This news from Candorchasma, just in, a few minutes ago:

Byron’s OK!

The Vancouver Police Department just called and said that he was doing just great, that he was glad to see them, but he is feeling fine and doesn’t need anything! He’s OK!!!

Pass it on! :-))))

That's wonderful news!
Is he back at home, or hospitalized?
Either way, it is good to hear that he is doing better!

Great news Byron.

Before I forget, have you got someone else to take over from you in your team yet? (I'm sorry, but I thought it helpful for your team)

Take it easy buddy and cheers.

Just wondering, Byron......
When did you last see a doctor for an evaluation and any possible change in treatment for your condition?
If you are feeling that poorly, might it be a good thing?
I do hope you are feeling better today.
Meow?
