G'morning everyone, from another icy start in the highlands down under.

This morning would be a good day to put down another spirit wash, but I've got a few other things to do instead as 3 days of rain are expected here so that can wait a day or 2.

I'm not so sure about that vending machine idea Gordon as you could lose half on opening after the drop if you don't let the contents settle again.

Anyhow, I better go and throw a load in the washing machine.

Cheers.

Tis true. I hadn't thought of that!

I had a nice pint of Guinness at my favorite Irish pub, tonight. It's really Louisville's only authentic Irish pub. The owner is from over there, and it truly has become an institution here in town. The owner is always in the bar, talking to everybody, and clearly loves what he's doing.

The Guinness poured there really can't be beat anywhere in town, either. If you love Guinness like I do, you have to come here to get the best, freshest pour of it. Their food is really good, too. I'm sure purests would find fault with their fish n' chips, but that and a Scotch egg, with a perfectly poured Guinness, really makes me happy.

This article is over 20 years old, but it gives the background on the owners:

The vending machine problem is a no problem. You can have no fear of a gusher upon opening.

That's pretty cute. I have seen that sort of thing in person before. It's fun to watch.

There was a feature on CBS Sunday Morning recently about a robotic coffee shop. Robots will eventually be serving Big Macs, too, I'm sure.

G'morning everyone, from another frosty start in the highlands down under.

Well it's a good morning today to put down another spirit wash and I'm just waiting for the 1st lot of 7.5kg of sugar to dissolve (there'll be a 2nd lot yet), but the heat off the gas ring burner is very welcome.

Once that's done I have to pull out the old cooktop in the house and then it should be Beer O'clock time here.

Cheers.

G'morning everyone, from a warm and damp start in the highlands down under.

Well I've been busy here for the last week cleaning out the house again and I'll be in there again shortly, but hopefully I'll have it all ship shape again by the weekend.

Anyhow, I better finish this coffee and get ready to start again.

Cheers.

I wanted to go out for supper, tonight, so I called one of my favorite places ahead of time and asked them if they had Guinness on tap. The person who answered phone did not understand me. I don't know what she thought I said, but she asked me to repeat it, and then there was a pause, and she said she didn't know, but she'd find out. A couple minutes later, she returned to the phone, and said, "no, but we have it in a bottle". Guinness just does not translate well into bottle or can. I can only enjoy it on draft. Needless to say, that caused me to change my dining destination, tonight, lol, and I ended up at The Irish Rover, where they pour a proper pint.

Belgium blesses its beer on brewers' day

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgian brewers accompanied by musicians dressed in medieval costumes took a barrel of beer to Brussels’ cathedral on Friday for consecration as part of an annual celebration of their patron saint, Arnould.
Known as the Knighthood of the Brewer’s Paddle, the guild of brewers walked to music through Brussels’ historic Grand Palace to the cathedral for the ceremony, where the wooden cask of beer was blessed by a priest.

G'day everyone, from a bright spring day in the highlands down under.

Well I've just about finished my usual Hump Day domestic duties, only the washing has to be brought in off the line when it's dry, and seeing as it's been such a warm day here I'm going to have a slightly early Beer O'clock today.

Cheers.

Now that I've done another three 9kg loads of linen washing it's time for Beer O'clock before I have to start taking it all back off and folding it up again.

Cheers.

Finally, after 3x 9.5kg wash loads everyday over the last 4 I've done all the linen that was in the linen press here and I reckon that that deserves a few beers now. ;-)

Cheers.

We have a cool and wet day here today in the highlands so I decided that putting another brew down is a good idea and the heat is now on in my brewroom this morning.

Once that's done a few beers will go down well. ;-)

Cheers.
