Message 2055436 - Posted: 18 Aug 2020, 2:19:28 UTC

Due to my current ongoing new bed construction project (while recycling a few hoarded parts) this morning I caught up on last Sunday's and got most of tomorrow's domestic duties done as well as tossing my old bed base down the stairs the scene is now set for tomorrow's reassembly of said bed and I'm now ready for a few beers. ;-)

Having my mattress down on the floor for tonight could prove interesting though. LOL

Cheers.

I know that feeling Wiggo. When I moved into my apartment. My mattress was on the floor until I finally got a box frame and a bed frame. I had to have a chair close to use to get off the floor.

After a few of hours of soaking wall tiles and a couple of hours of removing the old adhesive from them I'm ready for a beer break.

Cheers.

I've just decided that I've done enough for today so Saturday Beer O'clock can now commence here (though I've still got 2 loads of washing to bring in off the line they can wait for a few hours yet). ;-)

Cheers.

I've just finished my little painting project so I can finish off my summertime abode tomorrow, but now it's time for Beer O'clock.

After doing some temporary waterproofing in my brewroom this morning I'm about to do a 58L beer brew and a 50L spirit wash, once I've finished my last coffee break for today (then it'll be LLB time).

Cheers.

After bottling 6 dozen 750ml bottles of lager I'm enjoying a few that I bottle almost 6 months ago. :-D

Well I was hoping to get my brewroom ready so that I could get into making some holy water tomorrow, but things don't always work out as planned. :-(

So I guess that I'll just have to settle for making some un-holy water on Monday. ;-)

Cheers.

I wasn't go to do it today, but seeing as I was up just before 4am I decided to clean up the brewroom, scrubed out the beer kit so it's ready for the next brew and I got that done so quick that I thought, "Damn it, it's Sunday and I want some holy water today".

I just finished processing the 1st 12.5L batch and the 2nd batch is now heating up with 2 more to do after that, so I'll be kept busy again for the day.

Cheers.

Hey! That's exactly what the old monks used to do in recent times!!

Also a good excuse to skip morning prayers?

Enjoy the morning sunshine and good brewing!

Cheers,
Martin

Today I got another beer brew and spirit wash started.

Now I'm enjoying the aroma of yeast farts permeating the air around me while enjoying a couple of beers.

Cheers.

There's another 4hrs to go here before a Saturday LLB occurs here so I'll just enjoy another coffee break while enjoying the aroma coming from the brewroom. ;-)

After a couple of hours digging out the drain beside my shed further while constructing a damn to stop runoff going where it isn't wanted, opening the lane way side of it up further and cleaning out silt again from the main lane way drain it's Beer O'clock time. ;-)

Cheers.

Yikes!

You've opened up your own full scale brewery?!!!

How big the vats??!!!

Are you not recycling the runoff?

Excellent digging and brewing there. Way to go!!!

Good effort!

Enjoy the muscle relaxing effects of your labours!

:-)

Cheers,
Martin

No, just a little personal home brewery Martin in which I run 2 x 65L fermenting kits. 1 just for beer and the other for ginger beer or spirit wash.

Doing the beer or ginger beer brews takes 6-8 days in the kit (I get 6 dozen 750ml bottles from each brew) and then left for 2 months after bottling to age while the 50L spirit wash takes 10-12 days in the kit before going through the still and charcoal filter which then just needs to be watered down before being consumed (but I do like to let it sit for 2 weeks when I use an oak aging additive just to smooth things out a little).

Living in a small mountain country village (my place is 964m above sea level according to GPS readings) the water to do all this comes from my 20,500L concrete rainwater tank which is fed from my shed's 135sq m roof (you don't really want to drink our town water let alone brew with it), but it's the dirty runoff water that I'm trying to control that comes pouring down the hill wanting to run where I don't want it to and what overflows out of the shed's southern 20m gutter on occasions.

Anyhow, my schooner glass is empty again and I'm still dry. ;-)

Cheers.
