There is a website that you can go to and select your CPU type and what boinc project you run and it will give you the average run times of a work unit. Can anyone remember the name of it? I cannot think of it for the life of me I think this http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/delai.py is it. |

I am trying to figure out what the scheduler is doing during an update. Its not downloading any tasks but it appears it could.... but... One of the diagnostic flags produces: Sat 23 May 2020 01:55:24 PM CDT | | [work_fetch] No project chosen for work fetch What does this mean? Thank you. It tells you that it has looked through each of the projects your computer is attached to, and decided that none of them is suitable for requesting new work at this precise moment - for reasons that will have been listed in the messages immediately before that one. |

Are there any active rendering (video/image) projects out there? All of the rendering projects I am aware of have either closed down or do not have any work |

Just found some new contenders for the Oldest Workunits that still have outstanding Tasks https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=8614221 https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=3755716471 is not a long deadline Workunit, but it has still managed to have one outstanding Task more than 6 months after the WU was created. It looks like this one will still be around until 16 June, almost 7 months after 23 November last year, and has got to be the oldest WU still in the database, unless someone can find an older one ! |

And you could always ask the question over at BOINC: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_forum.php?id=11 Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

EDIT: Looking at his stats, maybe not. |

Need some advice guys. My main rig just played up & on checking found that the psu is playing up (fan failed). I can't complain as it has lasted close to 15 years. It was a 750w. Have none spare lying around but did check using a psu calculator which with the components on board, it needs a minimum of 367w. Will a 450w (borrowed from another rig) be sufficient? |

Will a 450w (borrowed from another rig) be sufficient?Short term yes, longer term, probably not- depending on how heavily the system is actually loaded, and how long for each day. Generally for a maximum sustained load on a PSU you want it to be no more than 75% of the units rating. 85% to 90% of it's rated load is Ok for a hour or 3 here & there. You don't want the PSU to ever have to run at it's rated load, even for short periods. Grant Darwin NT |

Thanks Grant. Thought it might be something on those lines. It's an FX8320 8 core running a 210 gpu, 6 HD's, 2 optical drives & 4 120mm fans. All external drives etc are running off their own supplies. Have ordered another 750w but it won't be here until late next week (est 26th) It just downloaded 102 tasks for WCG earlier last night - deadline 26th. :-( Was thinking of just installing the 450w & connecting only the c drive so basing on what you said, will that be okay to run at 50% cores? |

Thanks for the help Grant, appreciated. Been a devil of a morning. 1st off, forgot how heavy a Coolermaster Cosmo case is fully loaded. 2nd, even though old psu removed, as it was modular all cables disconnected & removed but had an issue with the 4pin connector. The Noctua NH-D14 cooler was blocking it, so had to remove it because of the bar across the case. :-( 3rd the 4 pin connector on the replacement psu was 1.5 inch too short. Forgot that the Cosmo psu fitting was bottom up instead of top down. No problem with the 24 pin, but... Oh well, at least it got a good service & ready for the new psu when it arrives. At least Ebuyer have been pretty good in the past, so should receive an e-mail Mon giving delivery date. However, there have been occasions in the past when delivered early, so here's hoping. |

Someone obviously had way, way, way too much time on their hands during the various Virus lockdowns, but this is just brilliant. Using Task Manager on a 3990X to re-create a music video. Grant Darwin NT |
