DOJ Skewers Minneapolis Cops Exposing Years of Racism and Excessive Force.

A scathing report released by the DOJ on Friday exposed a slew of troubling conduct by the Minneapolis Police Department revealing “systemic problems” of excessive force and discrimination that preceded George Floyd’s murder by cops in 2020.

The report was conducted by the feds in the aftermath of Floyd’s slaying, totaling 89 pages after a two-year probe into the embattled department.

“Our investigation found that the systemic problems in MPD made what happened to George Floyd possible,” the report stated.

Among the most shocking revelations was that Minneapolis cops patrolled neighborhoods differently based on the racial makeup of its residents increasing their presence and arrests in areas made up of Black and Native American people.....

Nicely timed report putting the DOJ in the spotlight.
The other side of the coin.
In the US, all 19 convictions for interest rate rigging are being overturned at the request of the DoJ - the same body that originally declared conduct like Johnson's to be illegal - following a US appeal court ruling that the prosecution case was misconceived.
The trader requests that Johnson was jailed for, it found, were not illegal - and didn't even break any rules. Many of those convictions arose from guilty pleas, made under the threat of prosecution in the US, which the DoJ no longer views as sound.
Whistleblower wrongly prosecuted
Asked who they are, his reply is simple: "The board of Barclays Bank, the Bank of England and the government of the UK."
Money talks, honesty walks.

All to save a few $$$ and the need to hire additional staff...
Dallas residents must soon report some offenses online to free officers for serious crimes
The Dallas (Texas) Police Department’s requirement comes as police response times continue to climb, staffing shortages worsen and calls for service increase, officials said.

Driscoll told the BBC that the day after the convictions, his superior officer Cressida Dick suggested he shouldn't bother going after the other suspects, even though the trial judge had urged police to pursue them.
In 2013 Driscoll arrested White, who refused to answer questions. The detective was unable to complete the investigation as he was asked to retire weeks later.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward said: "Unfortunately, too many mistakes were made in the initial investigation and the impact of them continues to be seen.

I've disliked the Met intensely & still do, as I believe many Londoners of my generation did, & possibly still do.
The Met are a law unto themselves
As far as I'm concerned, not much has changed in over 50 years.

The Macpherson Inquiry into that murder, in 1998, coined the phrase "institutional racism" - which the police high command refused to accept. Some smaller state institutions are slowly beginning to accept the concept - that racism is firmly locked into their body by the way it was created and controlled, rather than the fault of individual 'bad apples' - but too, too slowly and too, too late.

snip - but too, too slowly and too, too late.
Too true, sadly.
The biggest gang in Soho during the 70's was the Met's Sweeney (Flying Squad).
Operation Countryman (1978-82) showed how much corruption there was with little done & very few convictions.

It only takes 1 brain dead murdering copper to start a riot. :-(

Clashes with police on the streets of Paris after a teenager shot dead during traffic stop.

French President Emmanuel Macron has described the shooting dead of a 17-year-old by police during a traffic stop near Paris as "inexcusable", in rare criticism of the nation's law-enforcement, hours after the incident triggered riots.

A police officer is being investigated for voluntary homicide for shooting the teenager, who prosecutors say failed to comply with an order to stop his car early on Monday.

The interior ministry called for calm after at least 31 were arrested in overnight riots, mainly in the Paris suburb of Nanterre where the victim lived, with youths burning cars and shooting fireworks at police, who sprayed people with tear gas.....

Just your typical elected mighty white MAGA RINO sheriff.

A Virginia sheriff took cash bribes in exchange for law-enforcement badges and concealed firearms permits, feds allege.

A Virginia sheriff took over $70,000 in cash bribes from multiple men in exchange for appointing them as auxiliary deputy sheriffs — a law enforcement position that allows them to carry concealed firearms in all 50 states without a permit, federal prosecutors alleged Thursday.

In an indictment unsealed this week, prosecutors alleged that Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Howard Jenkins took the cash bribes in the form of campaign donations from at least eight men. Two of those men were undercover FBI agents.

Jenkins faces one count of conspiracy, four counts of honest-services mail and wire fraud, and eight counts of federal programs bribery......

The magistrate explodes at the state prosecutor after a N.S.W. copper, who was charged with the tasering of a 95yr old great grandmother, appears via video link.

A magistrate has unleashed a blistering tirade after a police officer was charged with tasering a 95-year-old great grandmother in the chest at an aged care home.

A magistrate angrily expressed his “absolute disgust” at the state prosecutor after a NSW police officer was charged with tasering 95-year-old great grandmother Clare Nowland.

Kristian White, 33, appeared via audiovisual link in Cooma Local Court on Wednesday after being charged with discharging his weapon at the dementia patient at an aged care facility in Cooma, who fell backwards and sustained fatal injuries.

On Wednesday, Magistrate Roger Clisdell blasted the crown prosecutor’s decision to allow the suspended police officer to appear in court virtually.

“Who runs this court, Ms Stuart? You or me?” he asked crown prosecutor Sally Stuart in a raised voice.....

What a "lovely" judge
Dr Chandran denied negligence and causation and argued that the incident was caused by the girl stepping out into the road when the “traffic light was green for vehicles to proceed”.
Now if the mother had taught her daughter the Green Cross code, it wouldn't have happened.

"Sensible" coppers.
