You also have to remember that there may be more than one raccoon in the area. They are social creatures, sort of. |

Can domesticated chickens fly? Honestly, this is a serious question from somebody who has always lived in a city. |

Can domesticated chickens fly? No. They can flap their wings but that's about all they can do with their wings. |

Can domesticated chickens fly? Yes, but farmer makes them fat so they don't do the long flights their more skinny cousins do. |

Hehe:) The longest recorded flight of a chicken was 13 seconds The furthest recorded distance was 301.5 feet But then we humans also can fly. "Med en gnutta flax" |

Hehe:)They probably "take off" and "land" better than many an albatross :) and some of them can barely walk after years at sea - fly/gliding. |

Have you seen a chicken "taking off"?Hehe:)They probably "take off" and "land" better than many an albatross :) and some of them can barely walk after years at sea - fly/gliding. I have:) First they run a few steps flapping their wings. If lucky and wind permitting most chickens manage to "fly" a couple of meters. But then of course there are also some athlectic chickens:) The chicken landing procedure is quite simple. Stop flapping your wings reads the manual. |

Yes :) The most memorable time but for the wrong reason, was that it was not quite in time to stop itself turning into a chicken-shaped lump in a snake :(Have you seen a chicken "taking off"?Hehe:)They probably "take off" and "land" better than many an albatross :) and some of them can barely walk after years at sea - fly/gliding. First they run a few steps flapping their wings. We have wood pigeons in our garden that do that. Then they just sort of wait-and-see which branch they stop descending through the foliage onto. |

The starting procedure is however difficult for them. They are also quite noicy when they are flapping their wings taking off. Oh, I had one bad experience wearing a white shirt on Trafalgar Square with pigeons flying over my head. Never had that with chickens:) |

Can domesticated chickens fly? Only short distances, to get up on something or to get down from something. ~Sue~ |

Why you do that in my eye? It don't hurt. I don't cry. I'm sure glad the cows don't fly. (A poem my mom - or dad - taught me many years ago.) ~Sue~ |
