I've had a few ppl ask me questions about why this is my last year of Relay for Life. As a member of a previous Relay's Organizational Committee and a Team Captain in 3 consecutive years, I saw a lot of what occurs in the background. Our local American Cancer Society (ACS) is failing. They've lost a lot of staff and the "celebration" has turned into a "Gee thanks for the money" event. Declining help from ACS for the events and an overall lack of enthusiasm from the staff that is there has ruined the events for a lot of people. The 3 Relays that I was on the Committee or Team Captain for have been closed to save finances but people aren't migrating to other events. Next year I will join our local Alzheimer's Association chapter for their walk which is a HUGE event with over 400 people. The enthusiasm is over the moon and that's where I want to be. It will also be a switch in memory of my mom who passed from Dementia. Hope this helps answer the questions? Let's finish up big folks!!!! 10 days to go!!! |

Thank you all!! I've topped out at $1625! Very nice! I appreciate the support and look forward to starting a new chapter in my fundraising in March when I move my efforts to Alzheimer's Research |
