Differential Grasshopper (Melanoplus differentialis)

The plant is a red (or purple) shamrock (Black Oxalis).

This is a spider web that was on my back yard deck. Most pix like this that you see are nice, perfectly shaped webs. Well, not this one!

Likely the spider is black with a bright red hourglass shaped spot.
