Hi

Not crunched in awhile so trying to work out all the changes. One of the things I cannot figure is the workunit type ending in cuda. Are these run on the graphics card only? If so how does the science differ or is it the same science but different way to compute?

I also have workunits with different numbers after cuda e.g. cuda50, cuda42. What does this number mean please?

The workunits are exactly the same. The scheduler just sends out the type of work that the client's platform CPU or GPU can process; the local BOINC client then assigns them to the relevant CUDA or OpenCL platform that is installed.

CUDA42 and CUDA50 indicate the version of CUDA to be used. During the first few days (weeks) using a new rig each of the versions of CUDA will be tried to establish the fastest on that rig. You may also see OpenCL or SoG, these are again variations on the application that use different underlying technologies.
