This is an oddity from 1600+ years ago. No academic answer to it's use so I have an everyday practical suggestion. Nearest to my idea (or the most fantastical) wins. I have told someone else on the forum that doesn't normally post to the thread my thought so it's all fair. |

A Roman dodecahedron? As this item remains a mystery today I'd use it for a candle, or a childs toy |

Just seen a video on it, a form of crochet, different size holes for size of fingers. OK I'm going to give it to you as I haven't watched any videos but thought it was a similar thing. My suggestion \ idea was: Remember those wooden dollies (tubes) with pins at the top where you (or your sisters) put wool or thread through and by swapping the thread from pin to pin wove a sort of rope. As a kid my granny did this with me using a wooden cotton real with 5 or 7 panel pins tacked around the edges. I suspected a sort of rope \ twine thin woven hose type thing maker. I never thought of woven Roman toe gloves.... .... but as you were the last presenter, if you don't mind, I would like to offer a PM to Admiral for "Metal K'NEX piece" as it was an artsy idea :) |

What it was really used for is disputed. Some experts think it was a candle holder others a measuring device. But it seems to work for kitting. I actually think it was part of an Atlantean energy storage device. |
