It would seem to me you are viewing the world as being either Capitalist or Socialist, without understanding there are many shades of government.

Unrestricted Capitalism is a system of the 'haves' and the 'have nots' which over time means the gap gets wider and the number of 'haves' gets smaller but still grabs a bigger slice of the pie, by allowing money to buy votes for the policies they want. This is Trumps dream. The danger is similar to the French Revolution where the 'have nots' rise up and decapitate the 'haves' if they don't flee.
Social Capitalism restricts the variation by limiting the slice that the 'haves' own by various means but notably by increased, but not crippling, tax rates over certain limits and using this to support the 'have nots' so that they do not slide into absolute poverty. This was GOP view some time ago.
Socialism heavily restricts the 'haves' and uses the 'one person one vote' to ensure those that would be the 'have nots' have a reasonable chance of rising out of the gutter. Obama's view.
At the far end of socialism is Communism where everybody gets the same reward for their labours. Except of course 'somebody' has to have the overall plan and lead the country, and this 'somebody' and his cronies lives in absolute splendor out of sight of the masses. Putin's dream, an outcome not very dissimilar to unrestricted capitalism and with a similar outcome, collapse.

Somewhere between Social Capitalism and mild Socialism lies the 'American Dream'.
