I just hope you have another money making source lined up. The new job is on hold for a couple of weeks. I haven't been a good boy with my CPAP. However, I also have a discrepancy. When I read the SD card at home, it says my >=4 hours compliance for the last 6 months is 61%, but when I took it to the dr.'s office for an official printout yesterday it said 44%. Anyway, I've used it every night for a week, so if I do it for another two weeks the 30-day should be over 70%, which will be good enough to start. Our cats barf often and we recently broke our little spot-wash carpet cleaning machine. Our new one arrived in a big box. I opened the box. Step 1 - Locate screw pack attached to handle. I closed the box. Another item for Eric's honey-do list. |

What to do? On our balcony there is often pigeons visiting us. Despite that we are not feeding them. Our dog usually make the birds to fly away. Now it turns out that a pigeon family have made a nest and giving birth to two pigeon chickens on our balcony. The guano smell is now awful but the chickens doesn't seem to mind sleeping in it together with their mum. I want to get rid of them but how to do it? I had some eye contact with the two pigeon chicken but I always chicken out when looking at them... |

"Oh bother, what a mess" Several possibilities, none pleasant: - Ignore. - Get a large broom and launch the whole lot over the side. - Wait for them to go - Get a BIG hungry domestic cat You will probably have to evict them at some stage, Pigeons will roost at their nest site :-( Once gone clean up the mess, a grossly unpleasant task. wash and disinfect the area - up to waist height at least on the walls. Get some plants to obstruct their return, not large, stiff spiky ones are the best. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I had to demolish a building that had a pigeon nest with eggs. My biologist argued with me that we could not do it because of nesting restrictions. After months I was able to get a letter from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife saying that pigeons are not birds, they are rodents with wings. The building came down the next day. Suggestion, a strong water hose. ![]() |

In much of the UK they are considered "pests", which means they can be evicted. Carlos' suggestion of a good sluice down with a strong hose is a good one, but it might be a bit unpleasant for anyone unfortunate enough to be walking on the ground below your balcony (but then, so too is "pigeon exhaust") Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

@Carlos and Rob. Yes, my pigeon problem needs some none pleasant ways to evict them. I can't say pigeons are pleasant to me either. I have been to hen houses several times and one I have even cleaned. That is moving out a lot of guano from it. Ca 2 cubic meter! But the smell was nothing compared to my pigeons:( Suggestion: A strong water hose. Pressure washers are even better:) Problem: The balcony down below belong to our neighbors. Suggestion: Ignore. Problem: Guano smell(: Suggestion: Get a large broom and launch the whole lot over the side. Problem: The balcony down below belong to our neighbors. Solved if collecting the guano in plastic bags. Suggestion: Wait for them to go Problem: Guano smell until pigeons are evicted and longer(: Suggestion: Get a BIG hungry domestic cat Problem: Does BIG cat's eat big fowls as a pigeon? |

Suggestion: Get a BIG hungry domestic cat I've watched a large "domestic" cat catch, kill and eat most of a large pigeon I would say it might solve your problem. You would probably need to borrow a few, in sequence, to do the job - so the cat was very hungry when "introduced" to its dinner. When you do clean the place up don't forget the disinfect stage. The disinfectant (or strong bleach) removes the "this is a nice home" smell which gives you time to get the next layer of defense in. I don't know any big hungry cats...Suggestion: Get a BIG hungry domestic cat I think I have to start removing the guano mess:( It's a lot and very smelly:( Maybe the pigeons will leave after that. Or perhaps they will come back after doing that and enjoying their new clean "home";) |

One simple trick to deter them is to make a mesh of fine line (fishing line) across the front of the balcony - the holes need to be about 75mm to stop pigeons - they aren't very good at seeing the stuff and once they've flown into it and bounced off a couple of times they generally get the message. It might be possible to get a pre-made mesh in a garden supplies shop (we call them "garden centres") as gardeners use this sort of stuff to protect their crops. I have seen some other neighbors having a fishnet in front of their balconies. Silly me not to paying attention to that:) Well here I am with two pigeon chickens in a nest that I now at least almost have destroyed. Just waiting for their parents coming back and see how they behave. |

My step moms first husband was from Thailand. He called pigeons "Thai Chicken" and hunted them regularly for dinner. They do make netting for protecting fruit bearing bushes and trees. Try Amazon. Or ask a local plant nurseryman. ![]() ![]() |
