I've always been big on having spares around. This time it paid off for sure. Something got banged up in the old router, then when ATT's outage came around, there was no recovering from it. I got told that it was MY problem, then their problem, then no problem. I was without internet for 3 weeks. And that sucked big time. I was starting to make plans to maybe make some kind of run to the public library for internet access to pay my bills. Oh, well. Life is good, considering what I have been through in the last few months. Meow meow, Mark "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Phew - glad to see you are still around Mr.Kittyman :-) As for ATT...... So glad we don't have them over here, but we do have a number of telcos that are below parr on whatever metric you choose to use (or all of them). Me too. Watching the last few minutes of the Star Wars series. May the force be with you always. The light side, that is. Things are different when one has seen the dark side. I had a glimpse of it after my heart attack, but IL did not succumb to it. Meow, as always. Mark "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Please see my post in the political forums. I could not post my true thoughts here, so I thought it best to post them there. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

I am currently watching as much as I can on Disney+ for the Star Wars series. Started with the bits about John Williams and his score casts for so many movies, then moved on to the bits about ILM.....Industrial Light and Magic, and then to their moving to computers to don their magic. Then to the Star Wars series, then to the Mandlolrian series. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Thank you, Dr. Who. I highly suggest that everybody even remotely interested in Star Wars, George Lucas, John Williams, Industrial Light and Magic, or film making in general watch "The Empire of Dreams..The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy". Amazing insights into what went into the making of the movies that most of us came to love and enjoy. George Lucas is a more amazing individual than many give him credit for. I watched it on Disney+. I do not know if it is available on other places or platforms, but I consider it to be a "must see" documentary. Had 600mbps internet installed today. Have a new switch coming tomorrow to try to take better advantage of it I think the limiting factor is my ancient 2 core computer though. My Roku should be able to take advantage of it. Meow. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Thank you, Dr. Who. Thanks for the recommendation. I will have to check it out. I remember walking into Industrial Lights and Magic back in the early 80's. I was a young lawyer and had an office in Hollywood at the time. I had some known clientele. George had a real estate issue that I helped him with. When I visited he gave me a tour of ILM and I was blown away. Funny, looking back and remembering how primitive it really was by modern standards. His proudest toy at the time was his "video droid". It was 7 video tape players wired into a single controller and 3 monitors that allowed editing from each player as needed. It was cutting-edge at the time. |

Another very interesting bit, which was produced by Hulu. A series called McCartney 3, 2, 1. It's producer Rick Rubin having a series of very laid back chats with Paul McCartney. It is done in a studio with a mixing board present. Two things stand out to me as amazingly interesting. First, they got access to the original multi track recordings, which I assume by now have all been transferred to digital. This allows them to play them back through the mixing board, and fade and boost various tracks in a song that they are listening to and commenting about. And second, that McCartney is still sharp as can be, and has very good recall of things and people and music from his very young age and beyond. And he us very clearly enjoying doing this. There are some video clips interspersed, some of which I have seen before, and some I have not. One other thing that was pure genius, is that the studio interview was done in black and white, which allows you to focus more on what is actually being played and spoken. A good watch for anybody who is a Beatles fan. And recommended for those who are not, but should be. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

Couple of movies I have watched in the last few days that I would recommend................ First, "Black and Blue", 2019, Naomi Harris. Mostly about police corruption, with some obvious racial overtones thrown in. The ending gets really intense. Second, "Cowboys and Aliens", 2011, Daniel Craig. You have to know going into this, just from the title of the movie, that it is going to be a farce. An obvious takeoff from the old spaghetti westerns, with Craig taking the place of Eastwood. But once you get into it, you get drawn into the suspense and drama and it takes on a new life. Credited to Jon Favreau, but Spielberg was also credited with executive producer title. Great special effects. Meow, Mark "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |

I have seen Cowboys and Aliens. A lot happens when a group of earthlings get motivated. ![]() ![]() |

What really galls me is that you pay for a movie service, and they take your money, and then on some more popular franchises when you start to play a movie, they announce that "Due to streaming rights, the following will run with limited interruptions." Streaming rights, my arse. Do the streaming rights require you to show commercials, which I had paid a subscription for to avoid?? Or does it really mean is that you think you can make more money by ticking people off than those who will avoid your service because you do so. This has happened on both Starz and on AMC+. What they really mean is "Due to our greed and the popularity of this content, we are going to f**k you whether you like it or not." And this just really ticks me off to no end. And I refuse to watch movies that I would rather see than condescend to their BS. Sorry for the rant. Sounds like watching a YouTube video. Movies can be watched free with ads. I’m just glad a streaming service I subscribed to does NOT throw ads at me. ![]() ![]() |

Streaming rights, my arse. Couldn't agree more with you. An outright lie to con us out of more money for things we don't want/need. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
