Not a great day for the kittyman. Went to the oral surgeon this morning and he finished fitting the partial. Went to work with it in, and managed to handle half the day. Then I had to take a half day of vacation and bag it for the day. Will take some time to get used to it, hopefully it will get better as my mouth gets used to it being in place and continues to heal. The tooth to the right of the two that were removed is still very angry and is radiating pain into my nose, my cheekbone, and up into my right eye socket. Doc didn't have too much comment, other than it took a bit more work than he expected to remove the bad tissue, and the healing will take some time. He really nailed the nerve at the root of that tooth. He refilled the Norco and said I might need it for some time yet. I can't really take them before work, too strong for that. So I am trying to get by on ibuprofen during the day. That's why I only made it half the day today. Hopefully they tame things enough at night that I can start getting some decent sleep again. On a better note, checked the kittycam before setting out to work, and there was quite a lot of activity. Last night, a possum and a chipmunk. This morning after sunup, a squirrel, a cardinal, a mouse, and the black kitty all showed up for a nibble or two. It does brighten my day a bit to see my resident critters when they think I'm not looking..... Meow. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Oh, thank you so much, everybody. Angela, Mike, Chris, Jimbocous. Taking off work early yesterday and getting to bed was a good choice. Got a bit over 10 hours of fairly sound sleep last night. Everything's still sore, but at least no setbacks. Should be able to handle the day at work now. Hmmm.....kibble bowl on the porch is empty. Have to check out the kittycam after I wake up a bit. Will report back later. Meow. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Looks like Mr. Possum played piggy at the kibble bowl last night. He was the one that ate most of the bowlful. Little mousie came by several times and picked out one kibble and ran off with it to stash somewhere. And calico kitty stopped by for a nibble. or two. Meow. Well, didn't make it all day again. Back home nursing. My face still hurts. When it gets behind your eye socket, it can set you back a bit. It WAS a bit better than yesterday, so I shall give it another go tomorrow and maybe I can tough it out for the whole day. 'Nuther good night's sleep would help. Meow. I've never had really bad pain like that, but I know what you mean about pain behind the eye. I get very minor aches like that behind my left eye. I have no idea why. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Well, I can tell ya I've had about enough of it, and would not wish it upon anybody else. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

On another medicinal note................ Got word from my doctor today that he is upping the dosage on the two ongoing prescriptions that seem to be working for me. First, the escitalopram is going from 10mg to 20mg. This is the antidepressant that I am giving full credit for my recently improved outlook on life. If I don't notice any additional change/improvement in a few months, will probably drop back to 10mg to see if that is sufficient. Either way, I know that it is helping me here and now. Second, the modafinil is going from 100mg to 200mg. This is to help me overcome some of the sleepiness which is a side effect of the escitalopram. The 100mg I have been taking has shown some improvement in my energy levels, and 200mg is the FDA dosage recommended to help with sleep disorders. So, I expect that it will do the trick at the higher dosage, and in any case is still within the FDA guidelines. This is also the drug that my health insurance held up approving the first time around, and the pharmacist didn't know if the full dosage would go through or require another full blown re-approval process. I have a feeling that at some point this is going to be a battle with the insurance company for continued coverage. If so, I shall cross that bridge when it is in front of me, and I am sure I will get the support of my doctor if necessary. Meow.......... And I can tell tonight that my gums and nerve must be doing better. Because just one Norco has pretty well knocked the pain out of my face. Last night, not so much. So I am looking forward to a better day tomorrow on that account. And Friday I am looking forward to my salon appointment and getting my hair dyed black. Lori is not so keen on the idea, but I am rather excited about it. Much better than looking forward to a bottle of whiskey for the weekend, wouldn't you say? Meowmeowmeow! Meowmeowsmile. Much better than looking forward to a bottle of whiskey for the weekend, wouldn't you say? I don't think many here ever thought they would hear me say THAT one. Hell, I probably never thought that I would ever say that one......LOL. I guess, as the saying goes, 'Better late then never'. And tho I am tired, I am also so wound up with anticipation and happiness that my new doctor is going to be willing to work with me on my terms, that I may find it a little hard to drift off to sleep. I was worried that the doctor was going to be put off by the fact that I believe I know where I am going with all of this and might be reluctant to help me with my plans. It is quite a relief to find out otherwise. I have been lucky. Such relationships are not always easy to find. That was a burden lifted from my mind. Which is helpful in itself. Now I shall try for some of that catnap stuff, with the knowledge that indeed, better times for me lie ahead. And the light at the end of the tunnel is not so far away as it once was. Meowhappy. Checking the kittycam this morning, I find two visitors. No kitties last night. Little mousie grabbed about 3 kibbles and toted them off. Mr. Possum however played piggy. He ate the whole bowlful last night. If he keeps that up, he'll be one plump possum in no time. Meow....... "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |
