By using the "On multiprocessor system, use at most" set to 50% for that system to make up for all GPU work (both Cuda and OpenCL) using a setting of 0.146 cores instead of a full core. .

I'm sorry but I'm still confused. I set the local preferences to 50% of available cpus. The number of tasks that Boinc was showing running went down by half. But the task manager still shows all cores active at a reduced processing level.

Are you saying that you also need to set the "app_config.xml" files for "0.146 / cpu"?

I am still trying to see how you "idle" a core under Boinc.

Thank you,
Tom

with Windows, no task is dedicated to an only one core , the task is shared , before i made some affinity, 1 have one core a 75% and the other one supposed to be free at 25% .
with the help of some utility like Bill2's Process Manager , you can set like i do, one mb cpu app for one core ( showing now 100%) and the other core for the GPU app ..

For the first time my Pc reached 30K RAC.
Not bad for single GPU machine.

Good going Mike. :-)

I'm back at the 120K RAC mark again.

Cheers.

. . Yep, single GPU rigs can be quite productive ...

Both my dual 1060 i5 rigs' RAC's are doing very well ATM, the 3570K with 47.3K and the 2500K with 46.4K, and with the help of my wintertime space heaters, the Athlon 630 w/ dual 660's with 23.1K and an E6300 w/ 550 Ti with 7.1K I've been having the occasional knock at the front door of a 124K RAC a few times this morning.

I am quite surprised by the little E6300 rig, but it comes offline by the end of this month and the Athlon 630 rig will do the same by the end of the September (weather permitting).

Cheers.

My 2 dual 1060 rigs are now very close in RAC to what they were getting when they were on an all Arecibo diet (3570K - 48.2K and 2500K - 47.2K) and I'm currently sitting at a total RAC of 126K.

Cheers.

My E6300 has crunched its last w/u under Windows and will be taking a break for a while.

With the weather warming up here finally, in the highlands down under, I'm in the process of decommissioning my Athlon rig again as the winter heating is fast becoming no longer required (it should take about 8 days to clear it's CPU just running of a night now, GPU work will continue for about 5-6 of those days nights).

I expect my RAC with just my 2 main rigs running to drop down to around the 88-90K mark.

Cheers.
