This forum is a blog for Nebula, the SETI@home back end. I'll occasionally post here about development and results.

Background information on Nebula is here.

Guys, where is my system most needed... BOINC or Nebula? I have a fairly nice gaming system that I have dedicated to SETI. ??

Thanks,

TJ

BOINC and Nebula are not the same.
Nebual is a back end process that does not use the BOINC infrastructure that SETI@Home uses. Nebual takes the data we have processed and performs the correlation that is required to identify potential homes for ET.

Thanks

If you read the very first post in this thread from David Anderson, and his linked explanation, you will find that "Nebula" is not suitable for distributed computing, rather is a step beyond the work SETI@Home is doing. SETI@Home screens out the majority of the "dross" signals, leaving the most likely signals, which Nebula does a lot more detailed analysis on than can be achieved in the pass we are doing.

Nebula is not a distributed computing project as it requires so much data (Tbytes!) to be examined.
There are from time to time some "calibration" trials, bu these are more eyeballing things on graphs.

Well I am sure with all the data over the years we will find something. In mean time Navy/Air force basically said we are not alone and acknowledged craft (UFO) that can not be made here on earth with current tech and have been visiting for 20+ years a month ago but it was covered over by the Cov-19 and never hit open news.. disappointing. I also know more about Neb then I wish.... that means we already found more then we can handle but NASA/SETI have to clear with government (you know you can't just blow it open) lets be honest most of the races out there are probably worse then we are when it comes to just taking what we want and that could make a very scary sky. HOWEVER we may find 1 race that actually might want to talk with this loud obnoxious race.
