We taxpaying US Citizens paid for it to be invented. It belongs to US!

Don't forget it was a Brit that made it what it is today.

If you are refering to Tim Berners-Lee's invention of the WWW...

The World Wide Web is a service that runs on top of the Internet, not the internet itself.

Yes, but again, that made it better for all, including your military, DARPA & others.

It looks to me like another Phil Zimmerman debacle if not handled right.

Where is Al Gore in all this?

Any of you old enough to remember a bang path?

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Old enough or have been online long enough?
(I probably actually telnetted and used e-mail as early as '85, but not cognizant of what it was at the time.)
I do remember telnet, gopher and ftp.

And then the ever present need for speed.

Bring on the "affordable" 1GHz residential service. Har! ;^)

Let me get this straight... If an underage girl in California has relations with a man that she is romantically involved with... Thats (statutory) Rape...

But if he pays her.... somehow that is not a crime??????!?!?!?!?

Man, I knew that the Californicators had some screws loose... but THAT is SERIOUSLY FARKED UP!!!

“For any lawyer, wouldn’t any levelheaded prosecuting attorney exhibit some discretion over whether to charge an abused 15-year-old girl with solicitation?”
But by then they have an arrest record and there are no levelheaded prosecuting attorney's. Not when they are paid bonus based on their conviction rate.

That is still a crime in California. For the John at least two crimes. Prostitution and statutory rape. Possibly contributing to the delinquency of a minor as well. What isn't a crime anymore is prostitution for her. Her pimp is guilty of the crimes of pandering and trafficking. (I'm assuming the John is an adult.)

GOP blames Obama for flaws in a law he vetoed

The classic example of chutzpah is the boy who kills his parents and then pleads for mercy at his trial because he’s an orphan. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has come close with his suggestion that President Obama is to blame for problems with an ill-considered bill that the president vehemently opposed only to see his veto overridden by Congress.

This week, after both houses had overridden Obama’s veto of legislation that would allow 9/11 victims to sue the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in U.S. courts — assuming responsibility could ever be established — McConnell acknowledged that the law might have “unintended ramifications.” (McConnell voted for the override.)

But then McConnell shifted the blame, saying that he had told Obama that “this was an example of an issue that we should have talked about much earlier.”

Hmm...

Extradite that punk, nobody does this to the US

"The flash crash happened because of a giant sell order placed by a US hedge fund called Waddell & Read, a conclusion previously reached by the US regulator, the Commodities & Futures Trading Commission."

...so, if the emboldened & underlined is correct, JUST what is behind the extradition?

Navinder Sarao's activities, (market manipulations), precipitated and caused the sell order from Waddell & Reed. The charges are federal criminal charges brought by the FBI.
Sarao's lawyer will now have the opportunity to argue for the opinion of the CFTC.
The extradition has been allowed by the brittish court. If the brittish thought the US charges were baseless, they would simply have ruled against the extradition and that would have been the end to it.
I've found it helps to question the way BBC news is wording their reports vrs. what the actual story is about.
Sometimes there is no fault, sometimes they are we very misleading.
