Speaking of errors on TV, I've caught a few during local news broadcasts, such as misspellings. One happened yesterday morning, in the "ribbon" at the bottom of the screen, reporting cancellations and delays due to snow. I can't remember the exact word/phrase, but here is something similar. See if you catch it. "Rreview your text messages to see if you must report for work." Guess they have an agenda? To deny any agenda at all? Naive. To suspect it at every turn? Perhaps a bit paranoid? Should we revive KM's "Myths & Conspiracies" thread series? Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |

You don't believe that the (non-Fox, at least) mainstream news media is pro-Clinton? Look at this: Oh, graphic on video, NOT CAPTION UNDER VIDEO! I'm sure some now unemployed onscreen graphics person who was operating on zero hours sleep and 200 cups of coffee. Just like the live closed caption typists. Never make an typo or spelling mistake. Perfect dictation. |

You don't believe that the (non-Fox, at least) mainstream news media is pro-Clinton? Look at this: My fault for not making it clearer... Yes, the caption on the video. Sure, I can understand an error... Of course.. BUT... Hours later and the video is still up? Not even a 'oops' notice or correction?? It is *STILL* the lead-off video on this page: http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/02/politics/hillary-clinton-coin-flip-iowa-bernie-sanders/index.html Surely, I am not the only one to have noticed it. The video was put up on the CNN Website 3PM on Feb. 2, over 30 HOURS AGO. |

My fault for not making it clearer... Yes, the caption on the video. Live TV is an interesting animal. It is very possible that they only recorded the final broadcast and not all the individual elements that went into the switcher to generate the broadcast. To edit it, you need everything on separate sources all synced with time code. Then you could lay in the correct graphic. Note they have two clocks in graphics one of which changes to live stock market quotes, that would cause issues in trying to edit. If you try and paintbox over the graphic with another that edit will be obvious, especially because the broadcast version has already been compressed - lossy compression. Also don't forget they are a news organization and editing to change content may be not permitted by their employer. As to an oops, the error is pretty obvious and the actual caption on the webpage is correct, so you might take that as the correction. I bet they have an ombudsman or viewer rep. Why don't you contact them and see what their response is? Perhaps a few minutes later their host said an oops to the live audience which isn't in the clip? In which case the web department is at fault for not including that on the clip. |

I wonder why republican presidental candidates bring in Scandinavian countries in their debates:) Sen. Ted Cruz sharpened his attacks on Donald Trump Wednesday, saying the businessman is "losing it" after Trump accused the Texas Republican of cheating to win the Iowa caucuses. "I don’t know anyone who would be comfortable with someone who behaves this way having his finger on the button," Cruz said here. "We’re liable to wake up one morning and Donald, if he were president, would have nuked Denmark. That’s not the temperament of a leader to keep this country safe." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/02/03/cruz-trump-is-losing-it/ "Bernie Sanders is a socialist," Sen. Marco Rubio Rubio told the audience, who laughed. "I think Bernie Sanders is a good candidate for president of Sweden." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/01/29/by-insulting-bernie-sanders-marco-rubio-angers-swedish-royalists/ Here are our "presidents" from Sweden, Denmark and Norway:) |

"Bernie Sanders is a socialist," Sen. Marco Rubio Rubio told the audience, who laughed. "I think Bernie Sanders is a good candidate for president of Sweden." Shocking, one of the runners in the race to be a presidential candidate does not know that some of our allies have monarchies. Just as well foreign policy is not one of the areas granted to the executive by the constitution, oh, wait a moment ... I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ... |
