Just another case of people not driving to the conditions?

'Multiple' people killed, dozens injured as dust storm causes major pileup.

Possibly not. Dust can be kicked up so fast across a road that you can be in the clear and then in zero visibility faster than you can stop. I've seen that where some yokel will dive down a dirt road or farmer on his tractor and kick up enough to sand blast the paint of cars on a motorway 1/2 mile downwind. Usually if the wind is that strong HGV's shouldn't be on the road. Of course the usual is idiots who continue to drive in it like they are in the clear and run into the sane people who slowed down. Same idiots who blindly follow the car in front of them no matter that the signal has changed.

When the GPS steers you wrong...
Watch: Viral video shows tourist drive straight into bay at West Hawai‘i harbor
The footage, shared across multiple social media platforms and picked up by news networks nationwide, shows a woman behind the wheel of an SUV all smiles despite the vehicle being partially submerged in water.

The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. on Saturday. Hutchinson had just returned from a day of sailing when she and several others watched in shock as a woman drove directly into the bay.

The craziest part about the whole ordeal, Hutchinson said, was there seemed to be no sense of urgency from the occupants in the vehicle as water rose around them.

I say put the law on the books...
Central Florida officials consider adopting 'stupid motorist law'

Officials in one Florida county are considering a law that would fine drivers for going around barricades and getting stuck on flooded roads. But not everyone is a fan of the idea.

BMW Issues Stop Drive Warning on 90,000 Cars from 2000–2006

The safety risk stems from an open recall for defective Takata air bags, which have a high likelihood of failure during a crash.

Looks like some fun days ahead for fork lift & truck drivers.
An 11 year trial is coming to an end with legislation going before parliament today to allow LST's (longer semi trailer) on our roads from 31/5/23.
This would bring the maximum allowable length to 18.55 metres (61 feet).
The DfT said the new lorries will be able to move the same volume of goods as current trailers in 8% fewer journeys, meaning they will "make the world of difference" for businesses such as bakery chain Greggs.
The policy is expected to generate £1.4billion in economic benefits and take one standard-size trailer off the road for every 12 trips.
Longer lorries will be subject to the same 44-tonne weight limit as those using standard trailers.

Every 12 trips? Maybe if using the standard common size Euro pallets of 30x48 inches as that would give an extra 4 pallets with the length extension.
With various size pallets out there, who knows.
Still have to stay within the 44 ton limit though....hmmnnn....

I used to work for a pallet manufacturer and most of their pallets were 1200mmx1000mm. So maybe two extra pallets at most as for the extra weight that the loby group wants 44 tons a lot of bridges are going to be no-go for that.

My, watch out for those curves. Or what is the kingpin to rear axle? Going to have too much hanging behind the rear tandem?

I was wondering why there were so many trucks running up and down the road out front this morning.

Three-truck crash closes the Pacific Highway near Kemspey, NSW.

Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

Cheers.

Unfortunately they couldn't get him on what should be the real charges, because he stole the evidence. The environmental pollution charges should have been tacked on, as well as landing an aircraft without permission. Lying to the government is a big one, but he'll end up with a very reduced sentence, I believe I heard on the order of one or two years. Now why they haven't seized his YT channel ... .

A truck driver yesterday afternoon punted a turning bus from the rear causing absolute mayhem and heartache. :-O

Truck and school bus collide at Eynesbury, west of Melbourne, leaving 10 children seriously injured.

An update this morning sadly reports that medical crews had to be scrambled last night to deal with the injured kids with amputated and crushed limbs among the injuries. :-(

The update. :-(

Children involved in a horror school bus crash on Tuesday in Melbourne have required amputations of arms, the hospital says.
