Here's an unexpected interesting effect for EVs:

Do electric vehicles make people more carsick?

... And the answer is... Especially for those already prone to car sickness... Is...

Yes!

... For the sake of enjoying too smooth and too quiet a ride!

Enjoy!

Progress on the Air India crash:
On Jun 26th 2025 India's Civil Aviation Minister said, that the first black box was retrieved on Jun 13th 2025, the second on Jun 16th 2025. Both boxes were separately taken to Delhi with full security on Jun 24th 2025, the data have been successfully downloaded in the presence of AAIB and NTSB on Jun 25th 2025. The analysis of the data is underway.
These boxes stand still for eleven resp. eight days in Ahmedabad? Interesting.

If there is one thing India got from the British, and have taken to the nth degree, it's bureaucracy.

You only need to look at the experience of F1 in India to understand how bureaucracy kills the efficient running of everything.

I also hope that they removed the fool that came up with this fool and dangerous design.

An oddly-shaped roundabout that caused mass chaos for road users in Sydney’s southwest has been removed just days after it was installed.

There's a reason that they're called "roundabouts" and not "diamondsabout".

Cheers.

What is not clear was the human driver using the full 'autopilot' mode when it crashed?

New Jersey man sues Tesla after Parkway crash kills 3 family members
A New Jersey man is suing Tesla after his parents and teenage sister were killed in a Garden State Parkway crash he blames on a “defective and unreasonably dangerous design.”

According to plaintiff Max Dryerman, the 2024 Model S was equipped with features including forward collision warning, lane departure avoidance and emergency lane departure that should have prevented the car from veering off the road last Sept. 14.

But instead the car struck a guardrail and a concrete bridge support in Woodbridge shortly before midnight, according to NJ.com. Dryerman’s 54-year-old parents in the front seat and his 17-year-old sister in the back seat were all killed in the crash. They had all reportedly been wearing seatbelts.

The lawsuit alleges the Tesla’s design was to blame for the car swerving out of its lane and not braking correctly, according to Reuters. The complaint also blames Tesla owner Elon Musk’s 2016 statement that his company’s autopilot function was “probably better” than a human driver for misleading Dryerman’s father, who was behind the wheel.

From what I heard on the news this morning is ... What the article does not say is that the driver of the semi-trailer is an ILLEGAL ALIEN in the US,
DPS says truck driver who caused deadly crash on I-20 in Terrell fell asleep
A man who fell asleep while driving was arrested in Saturday’s deadly, multi-vehicle crash Saturday in Terrell that killed five people and injured several others, officials said.

Accordint to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 27-year-old Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni was arrested on five counts of manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV reported.

Firefighters with Elmo Fire Department responded to a crash at 2:40 p.m. on Interstate 20 that included three semitractor-trailers and four passenger vehicles.

Please give an actual verifiable quote for that.

... Or is that a game of SCAPEGOATING?

Note that the entirety of the USA are all illegal aliens. The people who were already there were woefully badly treated unto a sad demise.

Meanwhile... Time moves on, civilization evolves (hopefully into something better), and now the USA depends upon immigration to do all the jobs that the other people already in the USA don't want to do!

We have a similar problem here in the UK: A lack of people from other (poorer) countries willing to do the dirty dirt-cheap jobs no one locally will touch.

That has really badly hurt our farming and lorry transport!

All in a very jingoistic world?

The Tories made the mistake of forcing the many Poles who had been living in the UK according to the EU rights of settlement to apply for residency and work permits due to Brexit. This uncertainty tempted many Poles to look around in their homeland.

They discovered that Poland now has the fastest-growing economy in Europe. And many were gone. [off-topic]

Crash: India B788 at Ahmedabad on Jun 12th 2025, lost height shortly after takeoff, no thrust reported [update: 2025-06-29_14:37Z]

On Jun 29th 2025 India's Civil Aviation Minister said: "It has never happened that both engines shut down together."

Investigators are analysing the black boxes from every angle including engine issues, fuel supply problem or something else including sabotage.

A preliminary report is to be expected in three months. India has accepted the proposal from ICAO for an ICAO observer into the accident investigation.

The observer will not have investigative authority, but will provide technical input and ensure that global best practises are being followed.
This enhances transparency and reinforces India's adherence to international standards.

Husband dies falling off back of golf cart with drunk wife behind the wheel, 2nd person arrested for telling her 'not to cooperate': Cops
A Georgia woman allegedly was just a tick over the legal limit as she was driving a golf cart at a Florida country club when her husband fell off and later died.

Now 62-year-old (wife) is facing a driving under the influence charge, jail records show. Sgt. Dominick Mesiti of the Port St. Lucie police told Treasure Coast Newspapers the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. Saturday near Astor Creek Golf & Country Club. (She) was reportedly driving, as her husband was standing on the back of the cart.

"He fell off the back of the golf cart and struck his head," Mesiti told the newspaper. "They were on a sidewalk going to another … location on the golf course."

Paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. (Wife) allegedly had a blood alcohol content level of 0.09 — just above the legal limit of 0.08.

There are very few ways to have dual engine failure. Fuel contamination is one, but by now someone else would have gotten bad fuel or it would have been discovered in a routine check. That leaves fuel mismanagement as the other likely cause.

The complete absence of any safety bulletin indicates that there is no mechanical malfunction identified.

Unfortunately, there are still just rumours.

But there's a report:

On Jul 8th 2025 the AAIB indicated they have submitted their preliminary report to India's DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The report itself has not yet been published.

Suicide?
Or stupidity.
Even when doing things for years, with recurrent training, people can still have inexplicable brain fade moments (particularly when under stress).

This thief didn't see that coming.

A seven-hour Melbourne van rampage has ended in chaos after the driver attempted to flee the stolen vehicle on foot.

Wild helicopter footage has shown the moment a man was hit by a car following a seven-hour high-speed police chase through the Melbourne.

Early risers may have caught a glimpse of the chaos unfolding this morning, after the man allegedly stole a van on St Kilda Road around 5.40am.

It kicked off a wild seven-hour pursuit across the city as cops scrambled to detain the man and get the stolen vehicle back in one piece.

Police were assisted by the Air Wing and multiple ground units in tracking the vehicle as it travelled erratically through multiple suburbs, including Footscray, Port Melbourne, Spotswood, Carnegie, Sunshine, Dandenong and eventually Point Cook.

Along the way, the van collided with a number of parked and moving vehicles, with pieces of its chassis flying off.

The pursuit came to a dramatic end just after 1pm when the vehicle crashed into a street sign at the intersection of Dunnings and Palmers roads in Point Cook.

But the drama wasn’t over just yet. The driver attempted to flee on foot, dramatically jumping out of the driver side window. But he didn’t last long and was struck by an unmarked police car.......

Police find vehicle belonging to missing German backpacker Carolina Wilga

Police believe missing German backpacker Carolina Wilga became lost in WA’s remote outback after her van broke down in Karroun Hill Nature Reserve.

Her vehicle was found about 35 kilometres from any established tracks, and police say there is no evidence of foul play at this stage.

She was very, very, very lucky.
In summer the temperatures around there can hit mid to high 40°c for days on end. In a heatwave the minimums can be no lower than 25°c
