Six people are dead and four more are fighting for their lives after a recreational submarine sank off the coast of Egypt.

Russian officials have said two of the dead are children.

At least 38 tourists, all of them Russian, were on board the vessel which sank about a kilometre off the coast of the Egyptian Red Sea resort city of Hurghada, on Thursday morning local time.

In total 45 people, including children, were on board the Sindbad submarine, The Sun reports, which enables viewing of marine life and coral.

Delta Airlines Flight 2983, an Airbus A319 headed to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), departed its DCA gate at 2:55pm local time and was cleared for takeoff around 3:15pm, the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) told Fox News Digital.

Meanwhile, four U.S. air force T-38 Talons were inbound to Arlington National Cemetery for a flyover, according to the FAA and US air force.

The Delta aircraft received an “on-board alert” that another aircraft was nearby, and air traffic controllers issued corrective instructions to both aircraft, according to the FAA. The NTSB said it was aware of “a loss of separation” between Delta flight 2983 and other aircraft, shortly after takeoff from DCA.......

Having plenty of experience with this type of bus I have wonder if this accident was caused by a jammed opened throttle which these bendy buses are known for it if the maintenance of the turntable section wasn't done properly. The engine and drive is located at the very rear of the trailer section

The other cause would be that the driver fell asleep/had a medical episode and the bus was still on the cruise control coming straight off of the O-Bahn as it shouldn't have been going anywhere near that fast at that point where you have to turn into the terminus itself.

The damage itself indicates that the bus hit that tree at full speed.

Today's report determined the radio system in the helicopter being flown by Mr Jenkinson had "defects that limited transmission range", and "it is almost certain that a taxi call was not successfully broadcast".

"Both pilots had very limited opportunities to detect the other aircraft," ATSB chief commissioner Angus Mitchell said.

The report also found the reopening of a helipad in March 2022 created a "constant" and "defined" conflict point between approaching and departing helicopters, increasing the risk of collision.

The opening of the pad created a higher workload for both pilots, made it less likely they would notice changes to a helicopter on the ground, and meant the aircraft collision avoidance systems would not issue warnings.

"A member of the ground crew advised the departing pilot that the air space was clear," Mr Mitchell said.
"However, this advice was outdated by the time the helicopter took off 20 seconds later."

A change of ownership and operations in 2018 "gradually degraded existing controls of enhanced communication and in-cockpit traffic display that informed team situation awareness", the report found.

Mr Mitchell said "each individual failing was only one part" of the deadly collision.
"You need to put all of them together for this outcome to have occurred, and the outcome could not have been worse."

A helicopter crashed into the Hudson River Thursday afternoon – killing at least one person on board, according to fire officials and sources.

Rescue efforts are underway after witnesses saw the chopper “split in half” before it went down near Pier 40 on West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 p.m., the New York City Fire Department told The Post.

Sources said at least one person was killed. At least five people were on board, including two adults and three children, the sources said.

... Witnesses on social media also described a “loud thumping noise” when the helicopter crashed, with what appeared to be a broken propeller.

Plane carrying 3 people crashes in South Florida near a major highway

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — A small plane carrying three people crashed Friday morning in South Florida near a major interstate highway and railroad tracks, officials said.

The Boca Raton Police said in a social media post that several roads near the Boca Raton Airport were closed near Interstate 95 after the plane went down shortly after 10 a.m. Local media reported the plane was on fire and firefighters were responding.

The Federal Aviation Administration identified the plane as a Cessna 310 with three people on board, though it wasn’t immediately known if anyone had died. It went down about 10:20 a.m. after departing from Boca Raton Airport bound for Tallahassee, the FAA said in an email. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating, with the NTSB leading the probe.

Fire officials told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that the aircraft appeared to have pushed a car onto the railroad tracks, leading to their closure. The fate of the car’s occupants also was unknown.

Delta flight catches fire at Orlando international airport this morning

A Delta airplane carrying 200 passengers caught fire Monday at Orlando International Airport, but there were no initial reports of injuries.

Delta Air Lines identified the plane as Flight 1213, scheduled to depart OIA to Atlanta at 11 a.m.

The fire stared in the tailpipe of one of the aircraft’s two engines, according to the airline.

Jet fighter lost at sea as it slips off deck of US aircraft carrier.

As sailors were towing the aircraft into place in the hangar bay of the USS Harry S Truman, they lost control, and it went overboard.
The navy said the jet and the small tractor towing it were lost at sea.

It is unclear whether there will be an effort to recover the jet, which costs about $US60 million ($93 million).

CHATHAM, Ill. (AP) — A car smashed through a building Monday afternoon, killing four young people and injuring several others during an after-school program in a small city outside of Springfield, Illinois, police said.

Officers responded at about 3:20 p.m. to calls about a vehicle ramming through the building, fatally hitting four people before exiting the other side, Chatham Police Department Deputy Chief Scott Tarter said.

... The Illinois driver, who was uninjured, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken to a hospital for evaluation, Tarter said. Police haven’t said if the driver was arrested or taken into custody.

Rudie Heru Komandono, 61, was driving to the address of a friend in his black BMW 3 Series when he set up his smartphone and fired up Google Maps on April 9.

Despite Google rerouting Mr Komandono away from the incomplete highway, he became confused by the changing directions.

Instead of taking a slip road, Mr Komandono passed through a gap in a concrete barrier and ploughed ahead.

Moments later, the luxury sedan hurtled off the incomplete bridge into oncoming traffic.

CCTV footage captured the shocking moment his car nosedived off the bridge, crashing to the road below and narrowly missing oncoming traffic.

The car miraculously lands upright, letting out a cloud of smoke after coming to a halt on a nature strip........

You can't blame the driver. The construction workers failed to fulfill their duty to ensure road safety..., just like all the mayors who omit to paint warning signs for smartphone users on sidewalks in front of all lampposts in their cities: "Caution: dangerous pole ahead."

Not always the construction crew not leaving all the barriers in place, we've "enjoyed" a spate of people rearranging barriers at roadworks without permission.

Traffic chaos Sydney-bound on M1 as hundreds of cars left with flat tyres due to metal shards.

Hundreds of cars have had their tyres shredded this morning on the M1 motorway, heading south towards Sydney.

The Transport Management Centre coordinator Howard Collins said a truck carrying metal debris lost its load between Palmdale and the Mooney Mooney Bridge and a major clean-up operation was underway.

An almost 30 kilometres stretch of the motorway is closed between Ourimbah and the Calga Interchange.

All southbound motorists are being diverted onto the Pacific Highway at Ourimbah.

Mr Collins said calls started coming in about 5am, with hundreds of vehicles affected.

He said the metal came from a vehicle towing a trailer with scrap metal.........
