Hmm, hybrid/electric cars.

Oh dear

Thankfully, the car alarm alerted the mother.

Generally, by the time someone gets to fly twin engine passenger jets such as the Gulfstream G450 you would expect them to have plenty of hours of flying time, and a considerable level of professionalism. It would appear that isn't always the case.
...
They were instructed by the control tower to taxi back to the parking area (apron).
The aircraft was stopped shortly after taxiing on taxiway E, as the crew noticed an increased rolling resistance of the aircraft, whereby the crew suspected a burst tyre. The crew decided to check directly at the taxiway whether the safety pins were still on the landing gear, to remove them if necessary and to check whether a tire was defective. The control tower of Salzburg Airport was not informed about this by the pilots. The co-pilot opened the cabin door and left the aircraft to perform these checks. Meanwhile, the pilot left the cockpit to inform the passengers in the cabin of the situation.
At 10:20 and 10:22, the Salzburg Tower controller tried without success to make contact with the aircraft's crew. An aircraft passing taxiway L informed the controller about a person on the taxiway who had left the aircraft in question.
The co-pilot, who had gone to the landing gear, recognized that the safety pins were installed and tried to remove them. When this attempt failed because hydraulic pressure was applied to the landing gear cylinder and the safety pin was jammed, he operated the landing gear door control valves of the nose and main landing gear several times and installed the landing gear doors control valve pins. This closed the landing gear doors, the main cylinders of the hydraulics of the main and nose landing gear were depressurized and the safety pins could be removed. After the co-pilot removed the nose landing gear door pin, the nose landing gear doors opened and the nose landing gear folded at about 10:30. The aircraft nose lowered and hit the taxiway. 5 to 10 seconds later the engines were switched off.
No indication could be found that both the Landing Gear Failure to Retract and the Attempted Landing Gear Retraction with Safety Pins Installed Checklist were executed from the time the installed Safety Pins were detected until the time of the accident.

Preliminary report: Gulfstream G450 departed Salzburg, Austria, with landing gear safety pins installed.

Too much electronics?

Most significant development since the safety belt

I would say many too many electronic systems that if one fail the driver has to engage.
"Cyclist or Pedestrian AEB: a more sensitive AEB that can detect cyclists, pedestrians and some animals".
Give me a break:)
It's obvious that a driver cannot rely on those "autonomous" systems yet.

Dumb motorist or reckless truck driver? Terrifying moment B-Double overtakes on a wet highway before hitting a car and dragging it along the road for 100m - but who is at fault?

Stupid question though.

Cheers.

Its not uncommon for a car to speed up to try to stop you overtaking them, sometimes in doing this they end up hiding in the blind spot and obviously you cannot see them. you also get drivers that will brake and then pull out behind you immediately that you have passed them so that they can overtake you as soon as you have pulled back in to the inner lane - these cars can also vanish from sight very fast.

That video is too short you really need to see the full lead up to the accident before making any judgement.

I normally drive Volvo's and they are equipped with a blind spot warning device, when you indicate if there is something in your blind spot it illuminates a large red warning light located on the nearside windscreen post and sounds a loud horn which is also located on the nearside of the unit.

Even looking at the full clip (as it was posted on that site) doesn't show you enough time before the accident to be sure (how quickly was the truck catching up to the car?)- but it looks very much like the truck was in the RH lane to overtake the car, and changed lanes well before passing the car. DId the car speed up from being much slower? More earlier footage is needed.

Southwest Engine Explosion Forces Emergency Landing; 1 Dead.

A passenger died and seven others were injured after the engine of a Southwest Airlines jet blew open in mid-air, sending debris into the plane's body and bursting a window.

Passengers described hearing the Boeing 737-700's left engine explode about 20 minutes after takeoff from New York's LaGuardia Airport Tuesday morning. The plane violently depressurized when the window broke open.

The pressure change apparently pulled a female passenger partially out of the jet, according to a family member of another passenger.

Drunk driver clocked at 143 mph, leads cops on dangerous chase, officials say

A drunk driver was clocked at an astounding 143 mph as he led Georgia police on a dangerous high-speed car chase Saturday morning that ended with the suspect and a police officer in the hospital.

Alpharetta officials said an officer on patrol on Old Milton Parkway spotted in his rear view mirror a white Mercedes 300 speeding towards him. Seconds later the car sped past the officer, who clocked the vehicle going about 100 mph.

Australian tourists escape bus fire on way to Gallipoli Anzac service.

A group of young Australian and New Zealand travellers have lost all their belongings after a bus taking them to the Anzac Cove Dawn Service at Gallipoli burst into flames.

The 43 passengers were four hours into the journey in Turkey when smoke started belching from the engine and they were told to get off.

Transporter driver forgot to lower top tier and hit the overhead warning gantry.

Guess someone's not going to get his new Range Rover.
There was another car in front of the range rover that was also damaged.

Your FedEx might be delayed
http://abc7.com/traffic/big-rig-blocking-metro-tracks-210-fwy-lanes-in-pasadena/3394063/
PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) --
An overturned big rig is blocking Metro tracks and lanes on the westbound 210 Freeway in Pasadena Thursday morning.

California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash, involving two FedEx semi-trucks and a car, shortly before 1:30 a.m. near the Lake Avenue exit.

Officials said a car struck a big rig before the driver took off. Soon after, a second semi-truck also crashed at the scene.

One of the big rigs was on its side at the center divider and onto Metro train tracks.
