Installed and using SETI@HOME with the Boinc Manager v7.2.42 (x64) using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Trusty Thar, Kernal 3.13.0.71, widget ver 2.8.12 Firstly, IF this is the wrong forum let me know and I will move to correct forum. My system HP Pavilion g7 - 2269wm AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M Accelerated Processor 17.3" diagonal HD+ BrightView LED Display Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. On occasion I may need to invoke the BOINC Manager to suspend the process, say because I'm doing other cpu intensive work like editing audio and/or video. Afterwards I will resume SETI using the BOINC Manager After using the Boinc Manager I can click on the close or minimize button and the window seems to close. The problem; On closing the last other than BOINC windows on my desktop; BOINC Manager window will pop up by itself. In most cases I do not want to see the manager again until something happens that requires my attention. Is this SOP ? Boinc Manager window opening without being invoked. Is this an undocumented feature ? Is there a cure for this ? I have found that IF I re-boot the problem ceases until I invoke BOINC Manager again. I do not think that I should have to re-boot every time I use the BOINC Manager. IF you need any other info let me know. Your assistance will be appreciated, Mike Bonewits To have no errors, Would be life without meaning, No struggle, No Joy |
