The kitties shall be scanning the heavens to view the supermoon and eclipse tonight. Scheduled for only a few hours from now. Hope the skies are clear enough for good viewing. Celestial events such as this are always awe inspiring for me. Meow! "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

We have a nice clear sky at present here in Germany. I will try to get up early to see it and take a photo or two. |

There is also a full moon drum circle out here in the desert. Will not be like burning man, but should be fun. Full moon, blood moon, super moon, fire dancing, drums and uncontrolled subsances. I'm taking out my camera for sure. |

Last couple of hours here has brought in a bunch of high clouds. Don't have high hopes. |

Watching it now...the shadow is moving down from the top left hand corner of the moon... This was the moon around seven hours ago... |

The moon has just about disappeared from the sky! edit: Can you see it in California yet? |

The moon has just about Been in and out trying to watch it for the past half hour. It's about half way up the sky now, clear of the trees. Can't see much but a fuzzy dull orange dot about the size of a pencil eraser. Biggest problem is neighborhood porch lights and sky glow. Can't even see it on my iPod camera screen. Edit: and now, can't see it at all. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

now, can't see it at all. You should get it back in about ten minutes. It is just starting now to get brighter up here. edit: Wow, I am so glad I got to see that! |

Been a few more than 10 minutes..... Moon is now about 2/3 of the way to zenith, pretty much white now. Some thin high clouds now passing through, making it look a little fuzzy again. Yeah, I'm glad I was able to see what I could of it..... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Here are the best two I was able to take. The first was right at moonrise, the second was just as the eclipse was ending. |

Thank you, for the pix. It was fun for us. LSM and I got all bundled up as it was cold here. I can't recall such a moving eclipse ever in my life. |

Here is a GIF of the Super Blood Moon Eclipse action that happened on Sunday 9/27/15 for anyone who missed it. EDIT: Fixed a non-working link. -"Young" James "To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational. Well none of my pictures were any good - all either underexposed or overexposed. Basically I don't know how to use my clever camera! I had the same trouble, either with the clever camera, or with a slightly wobbly tripod. But I did manage this shot of the supermoon rising. |

Just for fun, here is a picture taken just before totality began: Yeah, that's all I got with my iPod - light orange smudges against the black of night. Glad some of our friends got good pics.
