I finally started to binge-watch Yellowstone and I'm all caught up now. It's addicting in spite of the problems. First, I absolutely despise animal abuse, and there is a lot of it in this show, what with the horses, cattle, and rodeo. Especially the rodeo. :-( Many instances of animal mistreatment in this show. A lot of people would accept it since it's a way of life for some people. UGH! I HATE THAT!

The following paragraph contains spoilers, if you care.

Besides the animal abuse, the writer has several subplots that he just leaves hanging. He'll start a story and then leave it unresolved. For example, the Duttons found out that someone was, basically, poisoning their cattle by dropping bad stuff out of an airplane. You saw a scene where people were "fixing" the plane so it would, apparently, blow up at some point, killing the passenger(s) and destroying the plane. But that never happened. There was no mention at all of the plane, etc., after the scene where it was rigged to explode. Also, the people involved in the poisoning were killed off another way, leaving the plane plot to dangle. This has happened a couple other times, but I won't go into it now. Just know that it's bad writing (imho, and probably the opinions of many others) because of these dangling subplots.

So I'm a bit of a hypocrite in that I'm watching the show while being disturbed by much of it. I will say, though, that I fast forward through the stuff I don't like (rodeos, branding calfs, etc.).

I watched two movies a couple of nights ago. The first one was Where the Crawdads Sing. It's about a girl who is abandoned by her family and lives her life in her family home in the marshes of North Carolina. She's accused of killing a man she had "dated." I quite enjoyed it.

The second was Blonde, a fictional account of the life of Marilyn Monroe. It was weird.

Both are on Netflix.

One of the TV stations had a Yellowstone marathon over the Presidents Day weekend, so I recorded all the shows. I'd seen them before but wanted to watch them again in binge fashion. Easier to remember some things that way. So now I'm in the middle of season three, iirc. (I haven't been paying much attention to season/episode numbers.)

I have to say this show is not at all what I expected. With Kevin Costner in the lead, I expected it to be a happy, healthy story. Boy was I wrong. Kevin (John Dutton) is as evil as the rest of the characters. The story is basically about him and his family keeping ownership of their bazillion-acre ranch in Montana, and anything goes. Bang-bang.

If you haven't watched it, I would recommend that you do. If you're just absolutely not into that type of thing, then don't bother. But I'm not really into cowboys and "indians," but I'm really enjoying it. Oh yes, there are "indians." They're the good guys, usually.

Isn't anyone else watching anything?!

I watched the Murdaugh series on Netflix. There is more about that family than I was aware of—a lot of death. The series ended before the recent trial where Alex Murdaugh was found ____________. (No spoilers.)

I watched Mel Brooks' The History of the World Part II on Hulu and was very disappointed. I didn't think it was funny at all.
